Blade rubbing

Look on the deck for fresh witness marks from blade hitting. Whack the deck with a 3 pound sledge hammer until the blade stops hitting the deck. Problem solved.

Problem solved? Maybe not. He hit a rock with a nearly new mower. I expect there is damage to the spindle, blade bolt, blade, and possibly the top of the deck where the spindle mounts. A thorough inspection is needed, first.

My magic L&G 8-ball says:

Pull the deck away from under the rider and physically check for bent or broken parts. I've seen many aluminum spindle mandrels break two out of three of the mounting ears off and still be able to work until the mandrel shifts around under stress.

Obviously beating the deck out to get the blade from hitting the deck, is after you check the condition of blades, spindles, etc.
