Best Grass Cutting Height for Healthy Summer Lawn?

Hello everyone.

I'm trying to figure out the ideal grass cutting height during the summer to keep a lawn healthy, green, and resistant to heat stress.

I've read different recommendations, and I'm not sure whether it's better to mow shorter for a cleaner appearance or leave the grass a bit taller to help retain moisture and shade the soil.

Does the best mowing height depend on the type of grass, or is there a general rule that works well for most lawns?

I'd also appreciate tips on mowing frequency and whether changing the cutting height throughout the season makes a noticeable difference.

thanks in advance for any help

Here in Ohio I've always gone with the idea of mowing shorter in the early growing months and then longer during the hot days of summer. But I'm no expert......

Too many factors on nailing down a perfect HOC. Unless you have a postage stamp sized yard and or can afford to run irrigation several times a week. I just got hit with a $489.00 water bill from the city.

1.Grass type
2.State you live in
3.Current rainfall and humidity
4.Soil type
5.Sun levels
6.Wind
