Probably won't get much for less than $1k in a z. Watch craig's list constantly for a deal. The good ones don't last long.

Yeah for that money you would probably be better of with a lawn tractor

I have been scouring craigs
Found an older model snapper zero turn in good working order and good communication with seller, etc.
Text him again yesterday to sched pickup and he had sold it..had him down to 550 for it. I will look back at the post for a model #
Each week I dont find something is 200 more dollars I can put towards it so..

Got an awesome open trailer 6x16 with welded racks from a friend for 400$
Need to replace the wood floor and one of the tires is kinda bald but, hey the lights worked

Yes we might be able to help you feel better about missing out on that deal. I see those a lot. Would not touch one. There are a couple that have been on the Dallas CL for almost a year @ $400-$500.
If you're in Florida you may be in luck
Under $1000 is really wishful thinking though I believe. Even the Toro Timecutters usually go for at least 1500 around here. Don't give up hope tho... best mower I ever bought was a used Gravely 34z with 260hr and I think it was exactly $1000. In 3 years of spending way too much time on CL I've never seen another deal like that. If you look every day and you're very patient... maybe ;)

First off where are you located and next what are your intentions for the mower? Is it for use as a homeowner unit or from the sounds maybe a Lawncare business starter.

Looking to start a residential lawncare here in NE Florida
Got a nice 7x16 open trailer so far, used but exactly what I need. Welded racks, etc.
Some wood on the floor is rotted but no biggie

If your looking to start a lawn-care business you need to think of about how reliable your equipment has to be and a 1K ztr isn't going to do the job. The problem I see is that you'll end up with a few clients and the mower ending up broke down and when you can't meet your obligations to your client s they'll find someone else. Have you considered the 0% 48 month financing the company's like Toro and others are offering. For someone starting out making interest free payment could be a blessing and you could get a real mower or ztr and equipment that you could make some real money with. Some of the company's are offering start up packages like ZTR, blower, trimmer and edgers together for one price.
