B&S clicks

I have an MTD Husky with a B&S vtec engine 25HP?. WOuld not start, would only click once when key is turned on. pulled starter and it felt tight so put new one on. Same click. Sounded like coming from under the flywheel. Unplugged every electrical connection I could find. Still clicks. R & R the solenoid under the seat. Still clicks. Don't want to pull flywheel to look. What in the world is under there besides the stator and would it be clicking?
