thought I would post some pics of the end result of what I said in my previous post. i also included a close up of the head between cylinder and rod passageway where it was leaking during leak down test. maybe someone sees something that I dont for the reason of the compression leak.

PS: I also put my straight edge machined to a flatness rating of .001 on the block across the section between cylinder and rod passageway. couldn't get a .0015 feeler gauge to slip under at all. also used light shines behind it, couldn't see any light from other side. so I don't think cylinder or block is warped or anything. going to buy another new gasket and see what that does.

well, replaced headgasket with another brand new one... did leakdown test... now @ 100psi in... 70psi holding in cylinder. so a 30% loss, 10% worse than it was before...
