my 2002 craftsman lt1000 has a bad tranny [4360-140].....grinds like a mother!.......pulled it out today and found a gear cluster bushing broke in half [see picture]and all the little bits floating in the grease....the big bevel gear rounded [see picture]...compared to the good gear on another tranny [see picture] and the pinion actually looks good [go figure] some of you might know that i had another bad tranny [4360-96] that i recently replaced in my 1994 AYP...so ive got the old one as parts...some interesting discoveries for those interested...first is that the 4360-140 has all bronze bushings and the 4360-96 has steel and bronze [see picture]..i think from what i see ..the steel ones are the way to go....also someone had been into it at one time and put it back together with part old bentonite grease and some lithium added....ive heard of this technique before and let me tell you ...dont do it!.....combined.. they liquify!...ill be cleaning out the old grease and combining good parts with new bentonite grease i bought at my local lawnmower shop [see picture]..will keep you updated!....wish me luck!

Back in 1967 I bought a new Sears Super 12 and it busted the gear in the tranny while pulling a disk.
What I want to hear about is the intake and 4 barrel sitting on the shelve.
