Comparison Age of mower

I have a Craftsman Model 917.256524 ez3, with a 15.5 HP turbo cool B&S. Could I get what year this mower was produced, or do I need to give more info? Is there a list? Etc.

Usually in those craftsman/husqvarna that use that serial number system, that second set of numbers after the letter is the manufacture date. So that would mean 1/21/99. Maybe its not, but I know that is the case on the more recent machines.

You're right. Its the numbers before the letter, not after the letter in the scheme I was referring to. so that would mean 10/09/96.
