Those days went away a long time ago. I don't think it's possible for a man to work a forty hour week and support his family anymore because a guy doesn't have that opportunity anymore at least not with a living wage. Day was you could go buy a new truck for maybe 10K back when but not any more. The Ford F-150 XLT with a 5.0 is costing 45K by the time there through with the add on and taxes and it's the same with everything. The thing is if you think we have it bad, just think about your kids your grand kids, they don't stand a chance.

Ric,

I hear that!!! My first job in 1970 paid $2/Hour(yeah, $80/week). I paid rent, car payment, insurance, food and utilities and did very well for an 18-yr-old starting out. Today....$80/week, I'd be living under a bridge in downtown Nashville(and struggling to eat with that...even at McDonalds)!!! I bought a brand new Chevy Silverado Z-71 Extended cab in 1995 for $20K and like you said....that same truck today will cost you twice that much or better. I've always considered my career choice(Mainframe Computer Programmer/Analyst) as a pretty decent paying job. But believe me, since 1981 when my son was born(and we got custody of my daughter from a previous marriage).....if my wife had not worked for the last 30 years we would NOT have been able to afford a home or to be able to feed and clothe 2(yes, just two) children. My mom & dad(in the 50's-60's) raised 5 children and my mother NEVER had to work. You are sooooooo right that those days went away a LONNNNNNG time ago!!!!

The thing about your insurance going up is you have to remember that your premium is based on size of family and your income, so depending on how much money you make the subsidy's you can get through the government could make your insurance cheaper than it was before. There are a lot of policy's being canceled or premiums going up because they no longer meet the ACA standards. That's the reasons for the letters, there telling you there bringing your policy up to ACA standards so your getting an increase, it's up to you to find out if you qualify for government subsidy's or not.

There are some very major differences between so called social healthcare systems. The design, implementation, intent, political power, influence and government control placed into the Affordable Care Act here in the USA have positioned actual health care and the quality thereof in the lowest possible rung of this ladder!!!! And it is just getting started!!!!

Maybe we should have an Affordable Lawn-Care Act, maybe we could get the Government to subsidize are pay rates

Some of us are independent business people and would prefer to keep it that way. Success or failure is totally in our control and we quickly learn from our mistakes, usually!!!!!

Absolutely ! I want no more government intervention than we already have.anything the govt would give us would come with terms and conditions that basically give them more oversight, control and power,
