adjust brakes on Bolen MTD 2009 riding mower

Put it in the shop and they didn't do what I paid them to do.
I mow on a hill and I roll backwards or forwards because the brakes don't stop me until I put it in forward or reverse. Forget neutral, no brakes at all.
 
If you have a gear shift transmission, look at the transmission behind the right rear wheel. You should see a brake disc about 3" in diameter. There should be a 9/16 nut in the center. If you have someone step on the brake pedal, the brake arm should move. Try carefully tightening that nut, alittle at a time and see if that helps. You don't have to run the unit to see if it is working.
