Hello MParr,

I will add to that by saying remove the top flywheel cover at least once a season to get any trapped debris out or mouse nests. Mice love tiny areas where they can crawl in and make a cozy nest, especially in the winter months. Baling twine, acorn shells, grass clippings and cotton material from wherever the critter could find it and pile it up inside under the cover.

Currently I am cleaning up a V-twin B&S on a zero turn and the oil filter was not quite tight enough. As one can imagine in dusty conditions the oil and dust combine to make a thick layer all over the platform and under the fan shroud. I have had to use a putty knife to get all the heavy stuff off before I can even pressure wash it.

Looks like time to shop at Ebay. Just make sure you study the design you have and match it, because choke shafts are often different.
I ordered a new OE carburetor through the dealership. I will pick it up tomorrow. They also had the OE choke kit. I will likely get that as well and repair the existing carburetor. You never know when you might need a spare.
