I'm new here and wanted to say thanks in advance for any help and insights!

I've a MTD push mover with a 4.5HP Briggs & Stratton motor, 10H902-0285-E1, that has been stone cold reliable for many years.

About a month ago the intake manifold cracked and broke, I replaced it and it ran fine.

Then a few days ago it began leaking gas near the carb and stopped running when the tank was less than 3/4 full, and eventually stopped running completely.

I decided an overdue tune up was in order and have done the following:

Cleaned out the tank
Cleaned the carb
New Briggs carb gasket and diaphragm
Fresh gas
New Air filter and gasket
New intake manifold (a month ago)
New Champion J19LM spark plug
Fresh Briggs 30wt oil
New muffler
Set the armature to .006"

I've read the plastic bodied carbs on this motor can warp and leak.

When priming, I was getting some gas leaking from under the intake manifold.

Doubling up the old gasket on top of the fresh gasket, with the diaphragm against the machined surface of tank fixed any leaking.

The plug is showing spark when grounded against the cylinder, and is damp with fuel.

The motor has strong compression but will not catch and run, only sputtering a few times when the cord is pulled.

I'm out of ideas.... This is such a simple motor but for the life of me I can't figure out why it wont run.

I'm hoping some of you here more experience with Briggs motors may have some advise, thanks.
