My mower ran fine for the first few times I used it this spring, then I was about 30 minutes into mowing and it started sputtering and missing. It starts up fine when cold and then starts sputtering after warming up. I replaced fuel filter, fuel pump, and spark plugs, which did not help. When it sputters, I look at the fuel filter, and it doesn't seem to be pulling much gas, so maybe there is an intermittent vacuum issue? I went to remove the cover where the vacuum hose connects, and oil started leaking out. Is that normal?

Yes but only if there is a small amount of oil.
Oil will condense & puddle everywhere where it can.
Lots of oil OTOH indicated a blown head gasket.

Okay, I'll go ahead and open it up.

Any other ideas about why I have the sputtering?

Well I would do some other checking first. How about you oil level? Over full? Spray carb cleaner or WD40 around Intake Manafold - checking for possible leaks. Does it help to add some choke? A start.
