I have used over the last 40 years the electric, gas powered, tractor powered, bobcat powered, and hand powered auger type posthole diggers. The new ones with Chinese engines have lovers and haters. Buy it from a store that allows returns and use it first thing. The Tanaka units are about 150 bucks more but are better and can be purchased from a Tanaka dealer that will service it. The two man units with Briggs engines are the best I have seen in recent years but are true mankillers if only one man operates it. I assisted in drilling a number of wells in the 70s and later in the 90s with the Tecumseh 2cycle powered units. Those things would grind away from dawn to well after dark and never miss a beat. The traveling fence builders that come through here use the Tanaka units that tractor supply sells in two man style. It is very interesting when they hit rock or barbed wire about halfway down.
