Hello, I have a 1987 Toro Self propelled mower, model # 20624 (suzuki engine). Very old but well kept and a strong running mower. I have an issue where the blade brake clutch will not rotate (VERY tight), so I'm no longer able to turn the blade on/off at the handle. In the process, I broke part #4 (Still available for $13.99).
I managed to (with leverage) lift the blade brake off the blade spindle, so the blade is currently engaged 100% of the time, including at startup. Hopefully it will hold. I loosened bolt #31 a significant amount and was able to rotate part #32, but come to think of it, I'm not sure if the clutch plate was moving with it. Maybe I just need to try to pull the whole thing apart, clean and lubricate.... Any help or feedback would be appreciated.
