I just got a MTD Yard Machine 42"cut I think its a 1999
I did a short test drive when I bought it it was ok
I got it home started fine but it motor started racing
I checked and the choke was stuck so I cleaned and lubed it now it works fine.
but the governor rod was off and is bent I got it back on it ran ok at first
then when it got hot it started racing again any ideas?

Post you engine numbers and I'll find a manual which will show you how to adjust the governor.

If it is a Briggs, you will find it stamped on the engine shroud or valve cover. On a Kohler or Tecumseh it will be on a silver and black tag on the engine. Post all the numbers, we will figure out which ones we need.
