Thanks y'all I got it figured out. I left the brake stuff off just so there would be less to take off if something wasn't right. I lost the woodruff key that goes off the brake disc. Mower wouldn't move without that being on. Edit to be more clear. What ever mechanism that the pedal moves...

Kohler Command 15 s. Oil shoots out with engine running if I remove the cap. With the cap closed it seaps from the bottom where the o ring is. I've replaced the oring,doubled up on the o ring, and tried another tube with another o ring. Still leaks. Replaced head gasket already. Not sure what...

I've had a speedfeed head on mine for quite some time. But now I'm tired of being covered in grass. The head makes it so the cutting path is just below the cord trimmer blade on the shield. Is there another shield that would fit and adjust to where the new head is?

Mower looks to be in okayish shape. Def has been tinkered with( seat switch disabled) Paid 75 bucks for it. Guy said it wasn't getting a spark and won't run. I'll look into it more when I get a chance. Deck looks like it mounts the same as mine My model is 917.256611 other one is 917 255451

Another day another problem ladies and gents. Deck has crack and I'm not sure if it's fixable or even worth it due to the location. Craftsman 917.256611 Finding a deck like this.....where? If fixable I figure either fork out the dough for a decent deck or buy a welder and learn to do it...

Yes sorry replaced the entire thing with new blades. Only the pulleys ,belts and tension spring were reused

Not sure what step I missed or it's just worn part? Craftsman 917.256611 Took the deck apart in winter and worked on it when. Replaced mandrels and blades and kept old pulleys. Now the deck shakes and it's loud unlike before. Not sure what's wrong. But my belt looks loose?

Had this mower two years now. Has always whined when in motion. With the age of this mower ( made in 96) would it be worth to go thru the trouble of draining and filling the fluid? I assume the damage is already done. But I'm not sure of changing it would cause more issue.

I'll give the epoxy a go first. It's the valve cover. I stripped the threads trying to put it on.

After frustration I figured I'd start over. Took fuel line off carb and wasn't getting any fuel to it.....again. Took fuel pump off and gave it a push, squirted gas all over my car(was using booster cables). So I knew it was good. Then I realized the fuel pump came with a metal plate. Mower...

Valves can't be adjusted on this like my other. Cleaned the ignition coil, was gunked up. Spark went from orange to light blue. Lost here. Not sure what to try.

Sigh. Replaced fuel pump , carb, spark plug and fuel filter. Engine just turns and turns. Getting fuel to carb now. Starter fluid does nothing. Pain in the butt. I can only work on it Sundays. Valves and timing would be my next step I guess?

All right I think I got it! When I took the carb off the bowl was dry. Loosened the pinch on the carb line and no gas came. Tried turning over engine and still nothing. Removed gas line from fuel pump. Gas was coming at a good rate. So, bad fuel pump?

Put new battery on due to my stupidity of leaving the key on. Turns over and over and then starts. Would a low battery be the only reason it would turn and crawl? I've had that happen before but figured it was battery
