    Briggs 675 series engine

Serial#0822125951894..is idling at 3000rpm..is this about right? Doesn't seem to be any idle adjustment on this particular carb. If I need to adjust, is this a governor adjustment, or just a carb issue..thanksI

    Briggs Engine

7.25hp block has bad magneto side bushing..I have a good block (same part number but from 6.5 hp engine. So I should be able to transfer all the guts from the 7.25 into the 6.5 block..would there be a problem using 6.5 head with 7 25 piston and valves? I'm guessing not, but I dont really know

    Briggs Engine

Hi, can anyone tell me how a 6.5 hp engine can use the same block as a 7.25hp engine.. different head, different crank, different piston, same block. 7 25 is 190cc displacement, not sure about the other.

I could possibly be either the crank seals, or a crankcase gasket.. Not really compression so to speak, but it will affect gas fuel mixtures and intake cycling. Depends on how bad the leak is

Why dont u use all your knowledge and help this guy get his trimmer working?. Nobody was helping him, so I gave him some ideas and all I got was how my ideas were wrong. Im here to help if I can.

Troy Built Trimmer Wont Rev Up

So u are telling me that if he grounds plug to head and gets a strong blue spark jumping across the spark plug electrode , that the coil could still be bad enough to prevent engine from starting or revving up? And im guessing this guy that wants to get his trimmer running doesn't have any fancy...

Wow, that's a real head scratcher..seems like u have replaced almost everything. What does plug look like..black, tan ,white..? Crankcase need to be sealed also or it won't get enough fuel. Have u checked crankcase seals? I fabricated some plates to cover intake and exhaust ports, put piston at...

Attacking me , insulting me and arguing with me shows how professional you are. I dont care how much knowledge you have. Now run along and try to help people instead of justifying your immaturity

Every tech or mechanic regardless of experience may from time to time run into a problem they are having trouble diagnosing. Its a good thing to have professional people you can bounce things off of to try and figure things out. Obviously this is not one of those places.

Your post just confirms what I thought about you. I did nothing wrong. I asked a question. I was basically attacked by one of your other Techs, being accused of posting a problem I knew the answer to, which at the time of posting I didn't know..I run a small lawnmower repair shop part time in...

Not mad, disappointed. You are supposed to be professionals..maybe u should start acting like it. All I got was attitude. Im 61 years old, been working on small gas engines probably before most of you were born. I only ask questions to confirm my suspicions or get specs. Dont need techs on a...

Wow...I didn't know it was head gasket when I posted it. While waiting for a response , I hooked air up to block and found it leaking. Personally I dont appreciate your attitude. Then another guy says dont jump to conclusion that its a compression problem. Its got 30 psi...I think its a...

Hi, typically what is the compression of a 6.5 hp briggs engine? I checked mine and it was reading 30psi. It starts hard, but seems to run ok once started. I didnt think 30psi was even enough to start it. This engine, after priming 6 or 7 times, kinda chugs then dies a few times before it runs...

Check ignition timing. I recently worked on trimmer with same symptom and found flywheel key sheared off and slipped enough to throw off ignition timing but still run, but wouldn't accelerate.

    Leak test

Don't mean to sound naive, but how do you determine whether its the needle and seat leaking or seat to carb leaking being that they are in such close proximity and down in a hole??

Hi, if I hold a briggs carburetor upside down, and apply 5lbs of pressue to fuel inlet, should needle and seat hold that pressure with just the weight of the float
