    Briggs dual circuit alternator overcharging??

Hey guys, I've got a briggs intek 17.5 hp engine on a Troy Bilt rider. I've had two batteries go bad on it. So, while testing the charging system, I found it to be charging, but it got to over 16 volts after cutting with it for awhile! It was around 16.5 or even a little higher! It's possible...

    DSAI/MDI ignition conversion kit

Not sure if ill be able to post a video or not. I may try a little later. Shop has been getting SLAMMED with work. Normal for July/August, but this year has been exceptional. Really sounds like there may be some kind of damage to the internals, I dunno, just sounds rough and unusual. Never heard...

That wasn't it  May be a cam or something. This motor sounds ROUGH! Think I'm about done with this money pit. It needed a starter too. Kohler Courage are POS (n)

    DSAI/MDI ignition conversion kit

Thanks alot for that good info. That makes alot of sense. I don't have a timing light however, and decided to just go ahead and order the conversion kit. It should be here tomorrow. Maybe tomorrow or friday I can find time to install it and give an update. Thanks alot for the help

    DSAI/MDI ignition conversion kit

thanks alot for the info. Do you believe this would be cause for a motor skipping? Running rough? compression is good, new spark plugs. Both coils are firing, but just runs really poorly and doesn't sound carburetor related to me. You can pull the choke and it gets worse, letting me know it's...

    DSAI/MDI ignition conversion kit

Ok, thanks for the reply. It's a model # SV735-0016 and has the coils with lots of wires running to them. Three prongs on each coil and 2 wires running to each prong, for a total of 6 wires leading to each coil. I can try to get a picture tomorrow. I believe this is the setup that is on it...

    DSAI/MDI ignition conversion kit

Hey guys, Anyone put one of these conversion kits on before? I've got a mower in the shop that cranks good, has good compression, new spark plugs, but just runs ROUGH! Pulling the choke makes it worse, so don't think it's a clogged carb. Doesn't really sound like a carb problem anyway. More...

    LA115 trans oil leak

Hey guys, I've got a John Deere LA115 in the shop with a transmission oil leak. It appears it's leaking out of right side axle seal and possibly the input shaft seal on top. It's a tuff-torq transmission. I do notice a *slight* up/down play in the axle also. Very slight. There is an axle...

Tank M54 spindle bearings? (tapered bearing)

Hey guys, I'm looking for a tapered bearing for a tank M54 cub cadet. It's measuring approximately 1.245 id and 2.44 od. I believe the spindle part # is 918-05125, but it's around $265. Looking for just the bearings. The breakdowns I've found don't show just the bearings. Thanks

    Hydrogear ZT3100 charge caps

That was it. I guess this is a case of "couldn't see the forest for the trees" Although, in my defense, i did just drive the mower in the shop. So I was thinking it was something I did wrong in the installation. Just had some air in the system. Thanks

    Hydrogear ZT3100 charge caps

Hey guys, I just replaced the charge caps on hydrogear zt3100 transaxles. Something ive done 6 or 7 times over the past 2 or 3 years. Always goes smoothly. Takes about 30 minutes. The factory caps are known to leak and are replaced with an updated cap, part # 72274. All the ones I've replaced...

    LA145 PTO clutch acting weird

Hey Mark, thanks for sending that video. I didn't know about that! Good info. I did get clutch working another way, however. I was able to put jumper wires in the reverse switch and the RIO switch, effectively bypassing them. The clutch kicks on and works good now.

    LA145 PTO clutch acting weird

Hello, I've got a LA145 rider in the shop that has something weird going on with the electric pto clutch. It quit coming on, then I hit reverse and it started up! Strange. I thought it must be the switch connected to the drive that determines if the mower is moving forward or backward. (It has...

Kohler CV 22s. Seems like it is running at half power

John Deere 125 blowing diode to coils??

Hi Guys, A customer of mine asked me about the diodes on the kill wires of a JD 125 with kohler engine. He says they are located close to the coils on the motor, on the kill wires. One per coil right after the kill wire Y or fork. He says he bought a 10 pack of diodes off the internet and has...

Briggs and Stratton aftermarket cam 793880

Hey guys, I've got a motor in need of a cam. Pretty common cam part # 793880. Probably replaced 10 or 20 of them over the years. Currently the distributor I use is out of stock on this part. Found out they have aftermarket ones on ebay for around $30. Good price, I just wonder how good they...

command 20....1 valve works and 3 dont

Make sure valves aren't stuck open. That could make it appear that only one cam lobe is doing it's job. The push rods require the valve spring and rocker arm to return them back to the tappets.. if that makes sense

Kohler 7000 series engine with 189 hours

    Briggs push mower engine 126T02-0675-B2

The carb that was on the mower was the stock oem carb. I ordered a carb online straight from Bangcock, lol. Both do the same thing. The old oem one acutally ran a little better, but both flood out when I put the new air filter on. I may try a different air filter just to eliminate that as a...

    Briggs push mower engine 126T02-0675-B2

Hey IL, It has the auto-choke system. I've checked to make sure it's not stuck on choke. The choke is fully "off choke" so that's not what's causing it. I'm almost tempted to believe the new air filter is somehow not letting enough air through. Although that would be the first time I've ever...

    Briggs push mower engine 126T02-0675-B2

Hello, I've got a briggs engine on a push mower that has me stumped. It wasn't running. First thing I found is the coil was spaced way too far from the flywheel. Reset the gap and the mower cranked up and ran good. Put the air filter base and filter on and it sounds like its flooding. Brand...

Adding a 1/4" hose nipple to a plastic dipstick tube

Strange question, I know. But I have a new engine that came without the optional pulse fuel pump. It's a Loncin 17 hp, and I'm having a hard time sourcing the correct dipstick tube with the nipple made into it. (how the OEM Loncin motors come with the fuel pump) I could possibly drill a hole...

New Briggs Vanguard 40 hp EFI

Thanks everyone for chiming in. Been a few days since I checked this thread. I think the novelty and history of the Vanguard is what drew me into the thought of giving it a shot. But until it is proven in the field, I believe i am going to pass on it and stick to tried and true FX Kawasaki...

lot of good thoughts. I appreciate the advice. I'm a little concerned also, the reason I started the thread. May not be worth the risk. I'm definitely not a fan of most Briggs engines. New Briggs Vanguard 40 hp EFI

Hello, Curious about opinions on the new B&S Vanguard 40 HP EFI that's being put on commercial mowers. Vertical shaft I believe. I was always a fan of the older Vanguard engines. Kohler Command Single cylinder- leaking gas

Hey guys, thanks so much for the advice. Very much appreciated. It turned out to be a simple problem. The tank was full of trash and there was no filter on the line. So trash was getting in the needle valve and preventing it from closing all the way. Doh! Should've known better. Thanks for the help

Kohler Command Single cylinder- leaking gas

Hello, I have a kohler command single in the shop. I think around 17-18 HP. (model # is worn off) It has a mechanical fuel pump mounted to the side of the block, and has a problem with leaking gas into the cylinder. Weve tried two different carburetors. Rebuilt with new needle valve and...

getting signal to new solenoid, still won't engage starter

Yes, it would seem you are right. But...I can touch the solenoid with a small guage wire connected to the positive post of the battery and it cranks very easily. getting signal to new solenoid, still won't engage starter

Thanks for the reply. The solenoid is made onto the starter and the entire starter is grounded directly to the battery with a big wire, 4 guage or whatever is used on mowers. getting signal to new solenoid, still won't engage starter

Thanks again for the help everyone. We never could figure out the problem, although it did seem to get better about cranking with the key. Exmark Turf Tracer wiring diagram/switch doesn't turn off motor

Yes, that's the part # i came up with as well, and the one I ordered. Funny thing, we've done one of these same units before and had the same problem. getting signal to new solenoid, still won't engage starter

Thanks everybody for the replies. Haven't had a chance to check it for last couple of days. I just performed this test, and sure enough it goes from 12.5 V to 6 V when I turn the key. So the issue must be in the wiring from the key switch to the solenoid. Bad thing is, it travels through a PTO...

getting signal to new solenoid, still won't engage starter

It seems like it HAS to be a lack of amps reaching the solenoid, although this is a new one on me. I know bad grounds can often be the source of the problem. Been through that a few times. This "seems" to be something else though.
