Bar tires would help. You would have to pay attention when you turn around. Honestly when I switch to bar tires on my grasshopper, I tore up the lawn less because the tires dont skid near as much.

Just recently sold my 1420 with 840hrs. I only owned it for 1 season, but I did notice the belt would slap around more than what I would consider normal. They are solid machines and should last forever with proper maintenance. I would make sure the belt is good and tight.

I would be using a snowthrower on the grasshopper, but if I buy a machine for just mowing it will be hands down the ferris. I've done several hrs of demos on my property and the ferris was far and above more comfortable than the other midmounts I ran.
