    ZTX4 spindle disassembly

Gotcha. I think I had one like that on a LT1045??? I never did figure out how to remove the bearings. Good luck!

    ZTX4 spindle disassembly

I don't know the specifics on yours, but can't you take a long socket extension (for example) and put it through the hole on one bearing and pound out the other (angling the extension after it goes thru the first bearing). With one bearing removed then take a socket that is slightly smaller in...

Stihl FS 45-Z String Trimmer Not Working – Only Occasional Backfire

Thank you both for the feedback. I will remove the muffler and check for scoring. Note, it feels as though it has great compression. StarTech, what you describe seems to match what the previous owner was telling me. I don’t remember all the conversation, but it was very similar. I took the...

Stihl FS 45-Z String Trimmer Not Working – Only Occasional Backfire

I was given a Stihl FS 45-Z 281859012 DOM 12.09 (Dec-2009). It is in great shape but does not run. The owner said he replaced the coil with an aftermarket, and it only occasionally will backfire, that is it. I tried it and yep, an occasional weak backfire. I replaced the coil with a used OEM...

Actual Manufacture Date of this MTD Battery???

So yesterday I used the tractor for about 2 hours. I would guess I started it at least 8 – 10 times. All of the starts went well with none of them stopping when the motor hit high compression. Below are the test results from my battery tester after the mower sat for about 18 hours. Note, it is...

Actual Manufacture Date of this MTD Battery???

A quick follow-up to my post. You will note above that I cleaned the connections for the ground and positive battery connection. It is about 50 degrees where I am right now. That is about the warmest it has been since last year. The tractor has not been run for at least 10 day. I tested my...

Actual Manufacture Date of this MTD Battery???

Ha, I thought that would be the response. Yes, it doesn’t owe me anything. It still tests good (two different testers) and is still able to crank the Kohler 7000 22hp in my XT1. I will likely replace it this year. Last year at times it would stop at the compression stroke and I would have to...

Actual Manufacture Date of this MTD Battery???

Does anyone know the actual manufacture date of these MTD batteries? This is an MTD battery (not original to my Cub Cadet XT1 machine). It did come out of another XT1 I bought and sold. Anyhow, the recharge date on it is March-2017. You can read on the label they recommend charging the battery...

    Hydro Gear ZT3400

I have had both a Cub Cadet LTX1045 tractor with a sealed Hydro Gear transmission and a Cub Cade XT1 tractor with a sealed Tuff Torq transmission. On both I was able to remove the top fill (not vent) plug and use an evacuation pump to “suck” out about ¾ of the fluid inside. I then used a funnel...

    Hard starting Tecumseh

Confirm when you engage the choke, that it is completely shutting off the carb intake. Do a visual on it, don't just feel it with your fingers. The fix is easy, move the cable in or out to make a tight seal.

    LT1050 Hydro Questions

If you find the belt and idler's are ok, you may want to confirm the make/model of your transmission and see if you can change the oil in it. Research may show it can take a 5W-50 synthetic oil. You can possibly change most of it without removing the transmission if you have a vacuum/sucker...

XT1 losing power after 10 minutes

I wonder if you have a coil failing when it warms up on one cylinder? That could explain what you are experiencing. Next time it happens. Pull the spark plug wire on each cylinder and see if when you do it nothing changes. If nothing changes, that is the cylinder/coil that has issues.

LTX 1045 Cranks but no start
