B&S High Capacity Voltage Regulator in Spec?

So true and costly. A 1A tender is less than $40 and pays for itself. Use in the winter/summer for your car and equipment batteries, especially if you are not using every day. Also most people don't know this because they didn't read the manual.

B&S High Capacity Voltage Regulator in Spec?

Yeah it was a U1R 340 CCA DieHard Gold bought at a Sears Lawn & Garden Center. I know all the players only warranty 12V lawn & garden batteries for 3 months because a lot of folks just leave them on the mower in the shed all winter and it will be fine in the spring. Did some research and saw...

B&S High Capacity Voltage Regulator in Spec?

Much thanks! I got 8 years out of the battery I replaced. Stored it each winter in my basement which is about 60 degrees and put it on a charger a few times over the winter. Yeah hit the lottery on the battery.

B&S High Capacity Voltage Regulator in Spec?

What concerned me was not the 14v at idle, but rather the climb to 16V at max RPM without deck or traction engaged. But as Star stated dual circuit stator has no spec output voltage on the DC side only max amps.

B&S High Capacity Voltage Regulator in Spec?

Yes red and black wires coming from stator. So I guess I'm good Star? :) Always good to check with folks way smarter than me... How come some configs have no voltage regulation while others do not? Over the winter my snowblower LED lights started pulsing then blew. Checked the regulator and...

    Snapper Friction Wheel Replacement

I figured out how to get slack. Handle has a bolt stop when handle is not engaged. Removed bolt and handle has extra play. Was able to move top cable down 1 notch (2 notches and the wheel was engaging friction wheel). Amazing how the mind thinks much more clearly when it's 70 F rather...

    Snapper Friction Wheel Replacement

Thanks (slomo, star and rivets ) fellas. It looked like a jimmy this way that way thing given "how hard can 4 flange bolts and 3 friction wheel bolts be..." It kinda like the belts, auger belt easy, drive belt less intuitive unless you've done many. The part is B&S 1501435MA 3-bolt...

    Snapper Friction Wheel Replacement

Snapper 1695734 M1227E 27in 11.5HP Snowblower (2009 model) bought in 2010 The friction wheel axle is mounted with flanges on the inside rather than outside so the axle doesn't slide right out. What's the easiest way to replace the friction wheel? Do I just remove bolts of flanges on both...

For specific parts on certain model # ProPartsDirect and then drive to Turf Depot to pick up the parts to save on shipping and sales tax. Also shop around internet for common parts like everybody else.

What's your go-to string trimmer line brand??

The older the better... My neighbor gave me a Stihl FS-38 two years ago cuz he went with a E(NO)-GO. This year she started to be non cooperative. I already have a Ryobi, so finally paid some attention to it. Cracked the Zama carb cleaned it out and it needed new fuel bladder and fuel pump...

    Snowblower drive belt replacement puzzeled?

I found a video that explains how to do both including the traction belt. The key for traction belt is to remove from the bottom pully 1st and then pull up from the friction wheel side. Given the friction wheel turns you should be able to pass the old/new belt through the small gap between...

    Snowblower drive belt replacement puzzeled?

This video shows a full auger rebuild. My issue is not the auger belt replacement as I already was able to install a new one. The issue is not knowing the correct procedure how to remove and replace the smaller traction/drive belt as the clearance is pretty tight. Thanks!

    21HP V-Twin Head Gasket Repair

Search this forum for the thread: B&S Valve Adjustment Hiccup (Murphy's law & not a pro) I replaced both head gaskets on a 24HP B&S V-Twin and the gang helped me through it with specs, tips and pointers. You probably want to get gaskets for muffler assembly, carb assembly as well. Torque the...

Echo was working but suddenly no more

Much better to READ what "not to do" than have actually having done it! If you are a DIYer and know it all, then you should expect grief from the pros on this site if you cannot do the 3 L's - learn, listen and list (serial # and model #)

Echo was working but suddenly no more

Yes downloaded all the great info on both Walbro and Zama carbs. However the chart info is not there. With no chart (unless you are a pro) a DYIer usually will : 1. Seat H L and turn out T 2. Turn out L in 1/4 turn until she starts and idles at suggested RPM range turning in T 3. Turn out H...

Echo was working but suddenly no more

This is great. Can you please post something similar for Walbro carbs? I has all the relevant info including T settings and RPMs. I have both Zama and Walbro carbs and a general chart like this would be great rather than seating H L and then backing out 1/4 turn at a time! I've looked and...

    Tillotson Q.

As a DYIer describing the method of 2-cycle carb tuning is like describing to a kid how to ride a bike with no training wheels. If you keep at it and keep practicing eventually a light goes off! To help me know if I'm getting warm, I use a tach to measure rip-ems, which the pros gauge by ear...

Subaru EA190VS5050 Power Washer - pouring gas

Good points fellas. Correlation does not necessarily equal causation... My neighbor is an old geek engineer like myself who is handy. I think in my case it was a stuck valve that I verified when I removed the bowl. The dark mixture was probably residue just sitting at the bottom of bowl...

Subaru EA190VS5050 Power Washer - pouring gas

Drained bowl. You could see gas mix in bowl was like dark turpentine, but bowl much cleaner than was expecting. Valve was stuck, so used carb cleaner and compressed air and got it moving again. Cleaned the bowl and then gave it a go. Started right up. Thanks!

Subaru EA190VS5050 Power Washer - pouring gas

Yeah Is there a chance the needle valve is just stuck open and bowl float & needle valve just needs to be cleaned out? I found the carb assembly item 210 in the diagram for $68 on ProPartsDirect so that seems a little more reasonable. Thx!

Thanks for the tip! Can't hold a candle with a combustion engine pro. :) I don't want to fix it if it ain't broke. I don't mind tinkering with it, but as you said watching it until it starts acting up may be best for an old DIY guy like myself. I learn a ton on this website from folks like...

B&S Valve Adjustment Hiccup (Murphy's law & not a pro)

I've thought of that too, but then wouldn't the other cylinder have oil too? Given the pictures I posted before/after when doing the head gasket replacements? I was reading that blue smoke on cold startup that clears could also be from leaking valve seals. The mower gets through the season...

Update fellas: I ran her the rest of the summer for another 30 hrs before winter. Scoped both cylinders-- #1 had oil deposits on piston and #2 was clean (pictures attached). Once on startup she gave some blue smoke, but it cleared quickly during 10 uses before end of season. I'm thinking...

Generac GP7000E Generator outputting only 110v

Thanks Star useful info from you and ILENGINE. Was hoping to get some info from the Pro manual side as Generac is pretty much closed to DYI. I guess a better way to test a brushless is to connect it to an inlet to your house and then turn on some breakers and then measure AC voltage. My...

Interesting ILENGINE. I'm going to put a load on it and then measure AC voltage. Neighbor was testing with a LED lightbulb and stated it flickered and then blew out. He tried and Alexa device and said that blew out too. I've seen low fat LED bulbs flicker on regular power so that probably...
