Most plastics - EXCEPT polyethylene (HDPE) and polypropylene - CAN be glued. I used regular JB Weld on some plastic parts on my 38-yesr-old backyard spa a couple of years ago, which brought it back to life. Replacement parts had been discontinued decades before, and I could not find a 2-piece...
Sometimes it takes a retired industrial R&D chemist/former air-cooled VW mechanic to tackle a simple issue.
As a belt wears and slips, it glazes and won't grab as well. I have a 2005 Craftsman LT1000 I use to cut weeds such as tumbleweeds in a small town, and I always have a supply of new...
No stations listed for ethanol free gasoline in all of Maricopa County. That includes Phoenix, Mesa, Tempe, Glendale, Gilbert, etc, about 8 million population. Same zero listings in Pima County (Tucson area).
Sounds like original poster needs an 87 inch belt !!!!
My LT1000 (917.275371) purchased new in May 2005 lists two different belt part numbers (like 1/2 inch difference in length) for the drive and mow belts. I use 1/2 x 95 kevlar for both.
About 3 years ago my neighbor gave me this mower. 6.75hp 190cc Gold series. B&S engine.
Mower model 917.370431. The engine number appears to be 126M02-1525-F1
This starts right up initially. After mowing like 15 minutes, if I shut it off to empty the clippings bag, it won't re-start until...
I would test the battery UNDER LOAD. Try a jump start from your vehicle. With compression (spark plug installed), takes more power to spin/crank the engine.
There was actually a hole in the carburetor choke linkage already (see black part in photo), and I drilled a single hole in the plastic housing near that, and I just added a spring to help open the choke butterfly once the engine warmed up. Note that the first hole I drilled to the left in...
GiL - I have an LT1000 with a B&S engine, a 2005 model. I had a situation where it would shut off after 10 minutes. I found my choke was in the "closed" position and not opening up. I drilled a little hole and added a return spring from the hardware store to the choke "arm", easier than...
My LT1000 42" is from 2005 so quite different than yours. But I'll say that I wear ear protection radio headphones to protect my ears while mowing, so I wouldn't notice any such ringing anyway.
That idler pulley is really bouncing around. If mine, I'd remove the mowing belt (or the entire deck) and spin all the pulleys by hand (you will need to manually pull back on some pulley "brakes" to do this) and feel if any are noisy or binding. I'd also clean/lube the track/slot the idler...
The #90567079 part arrived, and the GH900 trimmer is back in business ! I like the single line trimmer because the 2-line ones are a hassle to re-do the lines. I have a 100-foot extension so being 120 VAC is not too much hassle yet....
I've uploaded photos directly using the button in the window here, at the top; you may need to "re-size" the photo smaller so the file is smaller; I'm a computer-idiot and I can do that in Paint. If that doesn't work for you, you can upload to a free Imgur account, and then paste in the link.
I don't have that Craftsman model, but I will say that I have spare spindles, belts, pulleys in my garage for my model, ordered in advance through Internet dealers; less expensive and no parts dealers close.....
I also have a B&D GH900 120 VAC electric trimmer, for at least a decade now; I like the single line units. I wind my own trimmer line (0.65")
This actually broke for the first time a couple of days ago. The little black plastic lever #90567079 under the spool broke, and I've ordered a new...
UPDATE: Winner, winner, chicken dinner !!!!
The winner is The Cusser; it turned out that the rope hard to pull was caused by the safety cable breaking somewhere in its sheath. No one had suggested that.
I had a spare already, watched a video and installed that. So the mower works now. So I...
OK, I took a look. The pulley brakes work properly. The intermittent noise seems to have been from a hitch pin on the end of the engagement cable that had slipped and was moving and getting caught; plus the mower deck belt is soon in need of replacement.
This mower was given to me a year ago, and always has been tough to pull the rope to start it. The recent difference is that I hurt my right shoulder and the shoulder is getting better.
I wonder if moving the rope pull over to the left so I can use my left arm to pull the cord??? I did this a...
I have a Sears lawn tractor LT1000, Model 917.275371 serial number 013105A002361. I would just like to confirm/further my understanding. Question: when one moves the mowing belt engagement lever even with the engine off, should the pulley brakes move away from the pulleys? Thanks.
A couple of years ago I was given a Sears 917370431 self-propelled lawn mower from my neighbor. This started up fine and performed well, even though I'm not a great fan of its self-propelled feature, but that does work. Anyway, I recently hurt my right shoulder and have discovered I have pain...
Yes, there's a square key that you need. Because of the differential, a free spinning wheel will prevent movement of the other wheel. I have LT1000 myself.
Thank you StarTech for the answer and clarification.
I had downloaded PDF document MTD Form No. 769-05383 (May 13, 2010); shows on pp. 40-41 part 34, as 946-04670 (pages 2 and 3 on the truncated file I've attached).
Troy-Bilt Lawn Mower Model 11A-B2RQ711 S/N 1D117K02798
has Honda engine and engine cover states TB130 XP
My neighbor gave me this mower, as he hadn't used it in years as he's replaced his grass with rocks. I added gas, cleaned the air filter, started it up and it runs good. However, he...
Make sure that the choke butterfly is open when it gets hot. I had that stick on my LT1000 B&S engine, added an extra spring to make sure it didn't stay "closed"/rich.
Nothing wrong if you find the other half of the mower blade, carefully weld it the found end on, file off most of the weld, sharpen it, and balance it. Or simply buy a new blade !!!!
I've never had that happen and I mow tumbleweeds, not a lawn.....
Since you have a vague question and didn't supply a model number, I'll give a vague answer: you have a fuel delivery issue. These do not have a fuel pump, feed by gravity; so look for a clog in fuel line or more likely a carburetor jet.
I have an LT1000 from 2005, model 917.275371
I use kevlar belt 95” x ½” for both lawn tractor drive belt and for the deck/mowing belt. On mine, there is no way to tighten the deck/mowing belt. There are springs that should take up any slack. I've found on mine that the pulley on the right...
