https://engineneeds.com/sae-30-high-detergent-oil/ https://engineneeds.com/sae-30-non-detergent-oil/ I do not agree that small engine need non detergent oils as in the last link. Years ago I tore an old (1946) tractor apart that had be run with non detergent oil and scraped a lot of old gunk...

    No fuel pump output

Not sure how the pickup line goes into the tank -- but if there is a metal elbow that fits into the tank check the line INSIDE the tank. Sometimes the line will break or crack and not draw fuel properly. I came upon that issue may years ago where the line accually fell off the fitting.

    Compression Tester

Years ago I attended a service school and if I don't forget what I was told --- They stated the schrader valve needs to be as close to the cylinder as possible, for the reason in a previous post. This is especially important when checking small engines such as chain saws and weed trimmers etc...

Toro Timecutter 75742 engine stopped in the middle of mowing. Won't start again

Apply some (not too much) pressure to the fuel tank with the hose from the pump to carb in a bucket. If you now have fuel it proves either the filter is plugged or the pump is bad. If no fuel removed the line at the fuel filter and put in a bucket and recheck. If you only have air or frothy gas...

Has the small engine line of work hit rock bottom?

Be careful with Cd's and manuals not purchased from Mother Deere. She gets very unhappy with those that sell copies. A few years ago Ebay sellers had no manuals to sell because she threw a temper tantrum. I am glad I got 4 cd's for the older stuff before she got so upset.

    .010 oversize piston???

Here is the difference between a cylinder hone and a glaze breaker. The hone is used to enlarge cylinders and keep the bore reasonably straight. Rattling noise when rotating flywheel

White/blue smoke will be produced by oil. If you inspect the gasket especially the area that borders the push rod cavity you should see a place where it is "blown out" This allows compression into the crankcase.Since the breather cannot handle the extra blow by it forces oil into the tube that...

    Rattling noise when rotating flywheel

The intake valve will lose clearance and the valve will open slightly. So it doesn't matter where your main focus is on.
