Mine started out just a bit slow. It turned out to be a leaking inner seal.

It should be on the side of the tire. Why not just repair it? It's not like you can have a blow out a mower speeds.

All finished... Jacking the RR wheel, pulling it and taking the tire off took less than 10 minutes. That includes fully deflating the tube and rolling it up in case I should need it again. Putting the new tire was on took a couple of minutes. Something about virgin rubber, it just need a bit of...

Raptor SD 54 inch drive belt keeps coming off

Fan blades are cheap. You'll have to drop the transaxles, but those are just a few bolts. I finally went to a one inch shorter fractional power belt out of Kevlar. It's lasted the longest and has yet to jump the pulley. That was a Gates 6850 instead of the 6851. It's a tad bit harder to thread...

Does a Harbor Freight cheaper ($100) mower lift work on a Hustler Raptor 60" mower?

I put jackstands under the edge of the mower deck. I never had my farm jack fail me, but I'm not taking that chance. They are mostly out of my way while in position. My Ryobi impact makes short work of the blade bolts, and I do use anti-seize on those threads.

Does a Harbor Freight cheaper ($100) mower lift work on a Hustler Raptor 60" mower?

I have two sheds and a largish workshop. One shed (yet to be named) has an open space that I use for my lumber as well a closed in section I use for general storage. My yard crane lives there in the back with the lumber. I also have an AgShed what was once a manger for horses. It houses my...

Yeah, you'll have to take it apart to see what's wrong. It's really not that hard and there's youtube videos that will help you figure things out. Take lots of phone pics as you disassemble.

Does a Harbor Freight cheaper ($100) mower lift work on a Hustler Raptor 60" mower?

I use a farm jack for the front and a floor jack for the back. I toyed with the thought of getting a fancy jack, but why? The farm jack makes getting to the blades easy enough and that's the most common thing I have to do. The best part about this, is that I use both jacks for other things...

Mower runs rough then clears up after 10 minutes

It sounds like water. Replace your fuel filter. Pull the carb off and clear out any crud. You might even put a 1/8th cup of alcohol in your gas tank. Alcohol is miscible with both water and fuel. That means a little alcohol with absorb the water in your tank and you'll just burn it out.

    IDLER PULLEY REMOVAL

I have a 60" raptor, and I just unbolted the pulleys. You can't get the bearings out of the pulleys since the two halves of the pullies are spot welded together to trap the bearings. I guess you could drill the welds and then use bolts to hold them back together, but that's a lot of work...

How to tell if pto switch is bad?

A simple DVOM will tell identify a bad switch quickly. Don't know how to use one? YouTube has a gajillion videos on that. Remove the wires connected to the switch. Put the DVOM on Ohms. Touch the DVOM leads together to see how it looks going from high to low. Off, it should be nigh on to...

I sourced mine at Byrd's in Lafayette County, Fl. They are local to me. A putty knife helps to put it all back together, when you're dealing with the springs and followers. Lots of youtube videos on the repair. It's not too hard. You're probably missing the dampner. It's either broken, become...

    Slow/sticky right transmission...

The belt doesn't have a lot of extra tension on it. With the longer belt, any extra tension will allow the belt to jump the pulley and get cut by the fan. I would have gone to 50.5" but I don't find that in a fractional HP belt.

Tires... where do you get yours?

I was, but these are Carlisle tires and they're still 20" in diameter and 12" wide. The smaller rim means a taller profile on the sidewall and that should result in a softer ride. I'm all for a softer ride. I'm going to put a tube in the old tire and now I'll have two sets of rims and tires...

I'm in need of a 20x12.00-12NHS tire and/or tube. I have a cut on the outer tire and while its a series of holes, I'm not sure a tube will fix it. No one local seems to have the tube or the tire. My local dealership will have tubes in on Thursday, but I'm thinking the entire tire needs to be...

Repairing the 60" mower deck on the Raptor SD

I first used them when I made a Tank cart. I do a lot of spring (cave) diving and getting to and from the springs down some trails is tough. Those wheels make it easy in all but the softest sugar sand. Penetration is better and welding differing thicknesses is far, far easier with a MIG and or...

One thing often overlooked are the grounds and the wires to those grounds. Take them apart, clean them up and replace what needs replacing. If you end up replacing the cables, don't be afraid to go to a larger gauge. Also, don't overlook how the engine connects to the chassis. I had a friend who...

    Wheel stud repair

Was there a solution here? Did you find the stud? Do you have a part number, preferably Dorman? Probably better to head to a parts place with the broken stud, a lug nut and a measurement of how much it stuck out of the flange. There is plenty of room to remove one and put one back in, so leaving...

I won't use slime on a wheel that will exceed 20mph. I do use it on my Raptor. I won't plug a tire that goes over 20 mph. I do plug tires on my raptor. I retired from Goodyear, so I get why no shop will want to repair a tire that's been slimed. Ergo, I just do it myself. Over-pressurize the...
