I put jackstands under the edge of the mower deck. I never had my farm jack fail me, but I'm not taking that chance. They are mostly out of my way while in position. My Ryobi impact makes short work of the blade bolts, and I do use anti-seize on those threads.

It sounds like water. Replace your fuel filter. Pull the carb off and clear out any crud. You might even put a 1/8th cup of alcohol in your gas tank. Alcohol is miscible with both water and fuel. That means a little alcohol with absorb the water in your tank and you'll just burn it out.

The belt doesn't have a lot of extra tension on it. With the longer belt, any extra tension will allow the belt to jump the pulley and get cut by the fan. I would have gone to 50.5" but I don't find that in a fractional HP belt.
