    Did Dodge make JD's plastics?

I just ordered all the mechanical parts (pulley's and blades) I need to get it up and going. Gonna order a couple of tires for it today (maybe tubes). The hood is in my Amazon shopping cart. Gonna get her all up and going strong before I buy that. But so far it's looking good. Except one of...

    LX188 tranny fluid

While I was cutting today, (after the tranny started working) the engine just died, like the key was turned off. So I checked he safety switches. All good. Put some water in it. (It wasn't low in the radiator, but the reservoir was empty. Still nothing. Turn the key to start, no clicking, no...

    LX188 tranny fluid

Update. I went went back out and check the level again, and it was way down. So if filled it up with the mobil1 and jacked it up and tied the foot pedal down. A few minutes later I checked the level again, and it was down again. I repeated this for about 1qt of oil. lol Somewhere along the...

    LX188 tranny fluid

Is there a way to bleed it? I'm not sure how it could've gotten air into it. Because the transmission itself was full. I noticed that when I pulled the reservoir out to fix the gas tank. It was only about 1" shy of the reservoir. Actually still a little above the transmission itself, because...

    LX188 tranny fluid

Well there may not be any need for any juice at the moment. I topped it off (maybe 2 or 3 oz) with Mobil1 15w 50. Wanting to test drive it just to see if the tranny worked at all. It chattered and struggled for the first 4 or 5 ft. But that cleared up and it was moving along fine. But after...

    LX188 tranny fluid

I'm getting a lot of different results trying to look this up. Some say regular 10w-30. some say 5w-50. I called john deere and they said what they use was HyGard "low viscosity." But it didn't have numbers on it. What do you fella's recommend?

    Did Dodge make JD's plastics?

My hood is too far gone to repair. But found this great video with some extra tips on more than just repairing cracks.

    Did Dodge make JD's plastics?

One would think JD would use better quality material. Who ever made the plastics for these (and Dodge) I sincerely hope they went bankrupt. And the engineers all stumped their pinky toes on their coffee tables the day after.

    Did Dodge make JD's plastics?

I've found on one online for like $60. Complete set. It's gotta be a gimmick of some sort. I'm gonna read through the description very closely before I click the buy button. Here it is. (air cooled models only) So it won't fit mine. Flip Manufacturing Upper Lower Hood Grille Fits John Deere...

    Did Dodge make JD's plastics?

It is. I've got a great one. My 01 dash is so broken up, even the clips for the new dash cover were broken. So it just sort of sits up there. Including the black facer trim around the gauges and the glove box. Glove box is in the back seat. lol

    Did Dodge make JD's plastics?

I'm trying to weld the plastic pieces back together, for experimental purposes. Just to see if it can be done. But it just doesn't matter. It still breaks. Or it'll break right next to it. I think egg shells are tougher than this.

    Did Dodge make JD's plastics?

I'm not exactly sure where it sat. He's got a pretty large carport like area, that's jam packed with stuff. His Bad Boy mowers, welders, air compressors, his side by side. And all sort of thing. So it may have been under it.

    Did Dodge make JD's plastics?

Someone gave me an LX188. It's been sitting forever. Even the mower they bought to replace it is old. So this one must be ancient. None the less, if you look at a piece of plastic on this thing it breaks. I was seeing if it would fire off and pushed the throttle lever to the choke position...

Troy Bilt Bronco Wont Start With New

With a test light, (and the park brake set so you don't have to be sitting in the seat) turn the key to start to see if you have 12v going to the starter. If you don't, then it's very likely that you just have a bad solenoid. If you do have power going to the starter, then it's your starter.

    Cannot find oil drain plug

Hey @bertsmobile1 , how big (or small) of a pump do I need to pull oil from a sump? I pulled some oil out of an engine that had a lot of gas in it. That gas weakened the plastic container of the extractor. So now, when I hook the air compressor up to it (to suck out oil) it collapses. So I got...

Is it safe to run Briggs & Stratton 5 hp engine without governor?

If the governor is still enact, you're gonna be lucky. Maybe he removed the sump and got all of that out. I'm just wondering if that hole is going to seal now that a bigger bolt has been inserted.

BG55, looking for the right carb

Took in a blower that had aftermarket carb on it. Customer said the tank, or something was leaking fuel. So I filled it, cranked it, adjust the carb some and ran it. (I didn't check the RPM's). It never would really adjust just right. The high side was only at about 1/4 open. But, it was still...

    Z335e engine surge

If yours has the Nikki style carb on it, I hate those things. Surging is usually caused by the pilot jet being clogged. But if it runs better at higher RPM's, you might try choking it a little at low idle. If that clears it up, then the pilot jet is probably clogged a little. And needs to be...

Starting and pulling the PTO with 1 spark plug disconnected. But first cranking the engine with both plug wires attached, warming up the engine and pulling the PTO. It bogged down the first couple of times I did it. Even pushing the button back in, within a second, it would still die. After...

6000 ZT Bogging down when PTO engaged.

Ok, so I've replaced all the contaminated fuel, rinsed out the carb and it's running better. It's not coughing anymore. Cranks easier. Changed the spindle bearings, rechecked all the idlers. And changed the plugs. But still on first pull of the PTO button it still bogs down and dies. Now, I...

    Bottom right valve cover bolt

I can probably just wiggle the top of the starter to see if the bushing is worn enough to cause it to bind? You're in TN, right? I'm in Arkansas, and there's nothing summer or even early spring here. Got down to 29 last night.

    Bottom right valve cover bolt

Actually, I didn't know it in those terms. As in loss of voltage from the solenoid. But I'm pretty sure it's not going to be an electrical issue, because this starter is making some kind of racket when it's engaged. I'm going to check to see if the shaft is bent, as you mentioned.

Kohler V twin. Gonna adjust the valves on it because it's not turning over very well. Kind of starts and stops turning over mid stream. The battery is charged fully. I've had one or two of these break off. It's always the same one. Bottom right. So these two bolts (both cylinders) are tight as...

    Deck actuator

Especially with the trouble I had, and the amount of time it took to figure it out. Note to self, do not reinstall without putting the black over back on. I'm not sure what's hanging up in there. Deck actuator

I just talked to the customer this morning. He said for me not to worry about messing with the actuator. He said it's done it a long time. His solution was simple. I'll take some more pics and post. If you need me to. But I've got it loose now. I took the casing off and was able to hold the end (under the casing) with a pair of vice grips. And gave the other end a pretty good turn. And it free'd up. Gonna investigate a little more, but not much. That's...

    Deck actuator

I'm gonna take the casing off, exposing the gears and see if there's something in there I can get a good hold on. I've already checked the gears. They look fine. So I'm thinking there something under the stainless tubing, like a couple of nuts that's locked together or bottomed out so tight...

    Deck actuator

Where I circled it, is where I'm supposed to grab it ( between the casing and the stainless tubing) and turn the other end. But there's just not enough room to hold onto anything. My bent, small needle nose will fit in there. But won't hold the shaft tight enough to turn the other end.

    Deck actuator

I got the actuator off, and just my luck, the video I see of someone with this problem, was the exact opposite. He was able to get something to hold the threads while he turned the other end. On this one, there's NO room to hold onto the threads at all.

6000 ZT Bogging down when PTO engaged.

I drove it around the garage to the back shop, where the lift is, and just for funzies, I engaged the PTO, and it didn't bog a bit. Tried it a couple more times, and was working fine. Then right before I pulled it into the bay, I pulled the button and it bogged so bad it almost died.

6000 ZT Bogging down when PTO engaged.

I took the RPM reading on both cylinders. Both read 3000. When you say "dud," I'm guessing you mean it ain't getting any fire from the coil. Or are you talking about a valve issue?

Thinking deeper into this. could the carb still be needing a good cleaning? I noticed ever so often it wants to cough.
