Puffs black smoke when full throttle mowing

You can certainly run it safely for a short time in a controlled dust-free environment like your garage. You wouldn't want to run without the filter while mowing through, because it could pull in dust & dirt instantly.

    Rogue hydrostatic system capacity?

The weird thing is that my dealer's technician didn't have any idea of the above and just said "run it for a while then you'll get the rest in there". And I e-mailed Bad Boy itself and they said the same thing. I believe what you're saying is accurate and these other folks are clueless.

Thanks for the tip. I was thinking that might be the situation.

    Rogue hydrostatic system capacity?

I have a 2021 Bad Boy Rogue. I just performed the 50 hour initial hydrostatic system fluid & filter change. Followed the instructions in the service manual... Removed the filters and breather cover to allow to drain fully, then install new filters and added fluid. Also did the air purge process...

    Rogue footrest/floorboard comments

Was doing spring maintenance on my Rogue yesterday and noticed something... Probably the first time I realized that 1) the footrest is adjustable; and 2) the floorboard lifts up. While moving the footrest from 2nd furthest to furthest position I noticed that the floorboard won't stay up by...

Goodyear Turf Command tire came apart. Anyone know of a warranty?

I'm not sure if Goodyear still produces those tires. Seems like there is nothing online from current sources for 'TurfCommand'. You could look up Michelin Tweel tires though, which are the original airless tire. Tweels are the current 'upgrade' tire for Bad Boy mowers. You can view info about...

Testing a hour meter from my Bad Boy Mower

One other thing I thought of... Since it is a 1-wire unit, check the ground that the meter is making with its mount. Even with good +12V if the ground isn't good it isn't going to complete the circuit.

Testing a hour meter from my Bad Boy Mower

I don't have any specific experience with an hour meter, but in general: To troubleshoot an electrical situation like this you need to verify if the input to the meter is on/valid, which is sounds like you have. If the wire coming to the meter is live with +12V when the switch is on that seems...

Bad Boy tank light kit details

Does anyone know the manufacturer or part number for the LED lights themselves that Bad Boy sells as a light kit for some models like Rogue? I'm not looking for the part number of the kit, but for the lights themselves. Looking to buy just the lights and not the whole (very expensive) kit. If...

Bought new 2022 Maverick 60 inch Kohler today

I don't have the Maverick manual, but I know for the Rogue the manual states to engage blades a WOT. Engaging at lower RPMs causes belt 'flopping' that is worse on the system than the instant shock of WOT engagement.

    2021 BB Rogue engine struggling

If by "KW 1000" you mean the Kawasaki 1000 engine, isn't that fuel injected? There won't be a carb involved if that is the case. Check your wiring related to the fuel pump and in general on your battery connections. A loose/weak ground connection can cause a lot of flakey situations that are...

    2022 BB Maverick Deck Issue

jawjadawg, I have a Rogue, not a Maverick, but the decks look pretty similar in terms of deck height and design. I don't get much grass build-up at all under my deck. I do have the Advanced Chute System on instead of the regular chute/deflector and I use it fully open most of the time, so maybe...

    No Ethanol vs Ethanol Gas

In MN the only non-oxy (non-ethanol) gasoline is 92 octane. Unsure why that might be. But it obviously makes it quite a bit more costly than standard 87 octane ethanol gas. The last time I put some in my cycle it was probably $4.65/gal for non-oxy 92 when 87 regular unleaded was about $3.90. For...

    No Ethanol vs Ethanol Gas

Well, if you're in CA that may explain the differences in experiences. I'm sure CA's gas formulation isn't the same as what we have in MN.

    No Ethanol vs Ethanol Gas

I've used standard (ethanol-containing) gasoline in every engine I run, with the exception of small 2-strokes like my chainsaws and weed trimmer (primarily because the mixed fuel for those sits for a long time). I have never had a problem with any of the things people say ethanol does to carbs...

    ZT Elite Spindle Replacement

Definitely look for set screws. Possibly multiple. I was attempting to remove the pulley from the hydro pumps last year to check for the recall notice on my Rogue (key installed at factory was potentially too short) and couldn't get it off even after loosening a set screw. Instead of destroying...

    Adding lights to Rogue

Thanks. I had my eyes on those. Or an almost identical set that is a spot/flood combo. But I've been looking for the smaller round bullet/pod style like BB uses, just to keep them in close so they don't catch on trees I mow around. Rob

    Adding lights to Rogue

Yes, I certainly could do either of those alternatives. But I like the location of the tank mounted lights. I leave the ROPS down because I have no hills to worry about and I have trees to get under. I also don't want them hanging off the front. Just preferences. I think I've figured out most...

    Adding lights to Rogue

Does anyone have pictures of the parts that come with the LED tank-mounted light kit for the Rogue (and other models)? I'd like to add lights but certainly not worth spending almost $300 on their kit. I can get a set of LED pod lights for $50 or less and wire it myself. I assume since the side...

2022 Maverick with 27 hp Honda running rough.

Bringing it to the dealer is the right path. But for those symptoms it appears to be a fuel delivery problem. I'd look for: plugged fuel filter, fuel tank vapor locking (vent plugged), kinked fuel line, electrical problem in the fuel system electronics.

BadBoy Rogue compared to Ferris is2100z ...

I can't compare it to a Ferris, but I can tell you I have a Bad Boy Rogue and the suspension does a remarkable job. I mowed my 7 acres with a JD x758 w/60" deck for 5 years and it worked well, but it took me 4.5 hours and with no suspension it was rough over my yard. The Rogue is much smoother...

BB Maverick surging under lower rpms

Bad Boy has used Yamaha engines for a long time. In fact, the dealer where I bought mine last spring only orders them with Yamaha engines (unless someone specifically requests another one). The Yamaha on my 2021 Rogue is a 37hp EFI.

TIPS & Products you use to prevent grass from sticking to your deck?

I think regularly spraying the underside of the deck with water will be much more prone to rusting than leaving grass clippings caked on there. I've had mower decks last 20+ years only scraping them off in the spring before installing the deck and they had no rust. Maybe it's just that I don't...

    2021 Bad Boy Rogue's

It's not a problem with the spindle or the material. The wrong sized key is what caused things to fail and get damaged. Get the key replaced and it will be a permanent fix. Since your unit has damage they might have to warranty the whole pump to replace the spindle now.
  33. B

    2021 Bad Boy Rogue's

The issue is that a batch of Rogues were built with pump pulley/spindle keys that were of the wrong size. The result is that depending on how they were installed the pulley set screw doesn't contact the key correctly and the pulley may come loose. There is a TSB for it from Bad Boy and if you...

    Shaking when blades engage

If you've hit something with a blade and either knocked a chunk out (blade would be unbalanced) or bent a spindle it may cause shaking. The former would be easy to check visually. Not sure how to check for a bent spindle. Rob

Bad Boy Rouge grass strips from wheels

These strips happen at pretty much any mowing speed (any reasonable speed beyond a crawl), actually. And if I wanted to mow slower I would never had purchased a zero turn. My x758 was doing just fine, albeit at 4.5 hours per session.

Bad Boy Rouge grass strips from wheels

I bought a set of Stens 315-499 Hi-Lift blades. Sharpened them up and installed them. Coincidentally, that happened at the same time as the dealer installed the new adjustable caster arms that Bad Boy sent me. Then it sat a few weeks because we have been VERY dry here in MN. But we finally got...

54" CZT dies when I engage the blades.

Possibly a safety switch. I don't know what your model looks like exactly, but on my Rogue there are switches on the control levers, the parking brake and the seat. If one of them is disconnected or faulty it may not let the mower PTO run.

    Badboy Lightning Hydro adjustments....how???

Have you tried your dealer? They were no help? Have you tried e-mailing Bad Boy? I've asked 3 or 4 questions of them before my purchase and since and they have been very helpful and responsive via e-mail. Even to the point of creating a set of alternate front arms for me to try to address an...

    Bogging Down

Lacking power under load would have me looking at the air & fuel systems. Is the air filter clean? Does the fuel filter need replacement? Is the fuel tank vent unplugged and functional? Kinked fuel line? If all that checks out, then perhaps consider cleaning the carb if it is not an EFI engine...

Bad Boy Rouge grass strips from wheels

Well, if I was going to slow down and overlap my path that would kinda defeat the purpose of having a zero turn that can mow faster. I could just as well go back to mowing with my Deere x758 which doesn't require overlaps or multiple passes and uses less fuel (it's a diesel) and finish in the...

Which ZTR rides better BAD BOY Rogue or Ferris 3200?

I have a Rogue. The suspension is definitely useful. I've mowed for ages on a Deere garden tractor (formerly a 345, in recent years a x758) and the Rogue is notably smoother. I can't compare it to any other zero-turn though. My 7 acres that I mow has a fair amount of roughness to it and the...

After looking at the Rotary blades, the stock blades look a lot like them. Very similar lift surface and notch.
  48. B

Bad Boy Rouge grass strips from wheels

So, the stock blades are 2.5" wide. And they have a single notch in them, not the serrations of the true G6. Apparently whatever info I had seen that implied the stock Bad Boy 'High Lift Fusion' blades are Gator G6 was wrong. And they don't look like G5s either. These don't have the lifting...
  49. B

Bad Boy Rouge grass strips from wheels

The Gator G6 is not primarily a mulching blade. It gets the 'mulching' attribute because of the serrations on the back side. But it is primarily a high lift blade. See attached feature list. Which is reflected in Bad Boy's renaming of it as "High Lift Fusion". In fact, I'm not entirely sure the...

Bad Boy Rouge grass strips from wheels

I've had my Rogue back to the dealer for them to explicitly make sure things are adjusted correctly for deck leveling to try to resolve this issue and another I had.
