Nice mower regular service adjust the valves at 300 Hours. Keep it clean. Clean around and under the hydros, top and under the deck. Check the air pressure in the tires regularly a good tire on your car can loose 2 psi a month and these things are worse. Enjoy I'm jealious. I own 2 older Dixie...
Depends on the model mower you mowed with there some I don't like. But over all they are a good line of mower and will put them against anything out there.
Dixie Chopper never went out of business they were bought by Textron. Textron owned Jacbson and they built both mowers. Mechanicaly they were the same mower with diffrent trim package.
They were then bought by Rhino Ag and are marketed under the Alimo group. It is a good mower,
I would never change out any of the hydro parts without changing the fluid and filters. I change the parts filters and fluids and flush the sytem to make sure I get all the metal shaving out of the system.
Never ever take the screen out. It is a federal mandate. if you take it out and start a fire you are responsible for the damage it causes. They are too easy to clean to take out. Take a propane tourch and heat it red hot the hit it with compressed air and it will blow the carbon out.
It is such a shame back about 2012 because of the EPA emission standards. Generac instead of revamping their engines to meet the emissions standards they just kept leaning down the carb which made the engine run hot and caused it to pop the head off the exhaust valve. Then they and Dixie Chopper...
2011A65R Dixie Chopper motion drive belt. The adjustment is spring compressed to 3 inches. You can slide the engine if need be. There is also an adjustment on the deck belt.
We don't waste time trying to run down parts for that type of equipment. Do you charge for the time you waste looking up the parts and freight to get it to you. To us just not worth it. Red Max is or was a quality line of equipment.
Have friend that has a CV25 Kohler that he swares has 8000 hours on it and still running. Have seen Generacs on Dixie Choppers built in the late 90's and used commercial and still running. No telling the hours on these engines. Briggs Vanguard is an excelent engine as well.
I have a 2000 X1901 the orignal engine was a FH series Kawasaki. Top main was bad and blew the seal. I replaced it with a CV20 Kohler. Great little mower only problem with them is they are short and this makes them kinda bucky over rough terrane. Battery goes under the foot pan take it off and...
That is a commom problem with these mowers. I see it a lot. Looks like they would use a better material instead of rubber which dosen't hold up to fuel very well.
Not so I have seen starters not work just click and not turm the engine over. What people don't realize is the manufactures use the smallest wire they can get by with. Over time they can build up a resistance and not work any more. As well the contacts in the solenoid can oxidize and cause the...
How did it run before you changed those parts? If it is a 10 Micron filter it can cause the engine to starve for fuel since the engine does not have a fuel pump.
I have used a solenoid for an inerta drive starter and wire it basically the same way. I use 10 ga wire from the engine starter solenoid and back to the exciter terminal on the engine starter. You don't have to run a ground wire from the solenoid since the solenoid grounds to the frame when you...
We have fought the belts like that on several mowers. Finally got an after market raw edge belt and it solved the problem. Dealer is right the wrap belts can cause a noisey deck. Like he stated ever where there is a joint in the wrap there is a bump in the belt. I have seen belts with four to...
Did you ever find the problem? It is an awsome engine and very seldom blow head gaskets. Dixie Chopper quit using Generac engines around 2014 due to the fact they started dropping exhaust valves. While trying to meet EPA emission standards instead of revamping the engine to meet the standards...
Yes The engineers a Hustlers are a bunch of idiots. Anybody that would bolt a muffler to the frame is not too smart. The engine and the frame flex differently. Have seen a lot of the Hustler mufflers break because of this.
Ever think the crank shaft might be bent? The farther away from the bottom of the engine the worse it would be and this where the clutch in mounted. Should be able rig some thing to check it. Just take the clutch off and check it.
If the pump is making a loud whinning noise it is usually the pump. You can have it checked with a flow meter and pressure gauge. Wheel motors usually feel like it is quivvering, Kind of like a chattering.
Check the ground cable from the battery to the engine. It bolts on the starter. Also check the wires on the electric clutch to make sure they have not gotten cut by the motion belt and shorting out.
Take out the plug leave it out and fill the hydro through the expansion tank. It will hold about 2 quarts. You can then finish filling the hydros after you put the plug back in. You will see bubbles coming out of the hydros into the tank until full.
