Hard to believe the gearboxes were that low...almost a quart/per gearbox. I caught all the oil in a drain pan and put it in a measured container. I tilted the units over night in both directions to be sure all the oil was drained so I know how much came out of the units. I did notice that the...

The rest of the story. I was able to pump out a little over a quart per side, turned the frame over and drained what looked to be about a cup's worth per side out. Using two hoist I tilted the frame with the units still bolted in place.

I want to "drain" oil in my Gravely Z50 with EZT drives...........without pulling units off, how successful will pumping the fluid out with a pump from the fill plug? Will I be able to get most all the fluid out this way, short of disassembling the units? Thanks in advance, bartles

Makes sense....I was with Cat when they introduced a medium speed engine, 10" , bore for high horsepower applications like Mississippi river line haul tow boats. Initial installations complained about high oil consumption....the fix was to "plateau" hone the liners...too much oil was getting...

Thanks....the B&S site shows what I call a "parts group" part number, inclusive of valves, springs, stem seal...not just a part number for the head itself.....for two head groups. I'm not sure how to determine which group number is for my engine.

Model: 407577-0292-E1 Anyone got a clue what this is.....you can scratch through it....but resists chem-cleaners and varsol. It runs from the dipstick tube hole to the top of the crankcase.

Thanks for your reply...that explains a lot about why the wiring harness has been so mangled. It now has a Briggs & Stratton 21 HP Model 407577-0292-E1.

Have a guy with a 60" Hustler mower, model 934778, 450 hours running time, with a deck , part #552269, that is so rusted out the entire top of the deck has to be replaced. Including the cost of plate he is looking $1500+ from me to do that. Any suggestions where he might locate a used deck?

Right, the mower is used to tow around a lawn vacuum....the guy is worried about "engine smoke". I wanted to price out parts with a labor cost to set him up to reconsider the rebuild cost versus what little cost in oil he pays now.

Well guys I got all giddy with the "discovery" of the model number (9P602-0023-F1) info on the block...until I looked at part number 84010941 in the B&S website and saw a four hole bolt pattern on the starter..........the existing arrangement is a three (shoulder) bolt pattern. I am stuck...
