here’s the engine I have image I believe I need a new cylinder head gasket but don’t know the part #

Go to Google, then Part Tree or Pro Parts Direct and look up Briggs and Stratton using the numbers stamped into the valve cover.

I hate to give more for the exhaust gasket than the combined head an rocker arm gaskets.
I searched a little but didn't find the kit w/ all plus the intake thanks ILengine for explaining how to search

I'd like to have the set head/rocker/exhaust an intake but couldn't find it packaged together.

I didn't include a part number for the OHV valve gasket set because in most cases the only thing you will use will be the head gasket, and the exhaust gasket.. The gasket set doesn't include the O ring for the plastic intake manifold, just the paper gasket for the metal intake. Also most of the valve covers are using RTV and not the paper valve cover gasket. According to your date code your engine uses RTV and not the cover gasket

The head gasket list for 9.23
the OHV gasket which can be used but not standard on your engine 5.29
Intake gasket that don't fit your intake 2.66
intake valve stem seal 8.25
Secondary intake gasket that is not used with your engine 4.26
exhaust gasket 4.22

I thought the cylinder heads gasket was damaged it’s not but it sounds like compression is being released during ignition an she won’t start.



I suspected the valve lash was loose so I attempted to adjust both intake an exhaust was set to .005 now I have this condition.

Could a valve stem seal cause this compression being released?



What I did was attempt to adjust the valve lash on the engines orginal cylinder head some how this head got buggered up where the rocker arm stud is attached to cylinder head broke loose from head.

Luckiely I have the orginal engines head which I swapped onto this replacement engine.

After adjusting valve lash she won’t start.

I’ve wasted hours attempting to adjust the valve on TDC.

Next plan is to attempt this method. Pres down one valve spring then adjust closed valve.

What should I set the top .004?

What should I set the bottom .006?

Teryl Fixes All has some good videos, you just have to overlook his cooky skits and the way he appears. He is a small engine master.
