Kohler CV 745 FI (27 hp) Muffler

Sorry ILENGINE if I had that information I would have used it myself. For some strange reason both Hustler & Kohler use stick on Model/Serial Number Labels, rather than punching the details into into metal (like B&S & others do) or using a metal label, riveted to engine/frame (even chainsaws...

Kohler CV 745 FI (27 hp) Muffler

Hi, Hustlers Super Z, 60" Having trouble finding : Part Number for the Muffler - I am told its a Hustler part, not a Kohler. Alternative to the original part. The original is a vertical muffler with one inlet hole and one exit. Similar (not the same) in appearance to this Kawasaki; I can...

    Hustler Barn Find

Not helpful - Read my last posr. Thank you in advance for whatever information (Model Number of Muffler Part Number) you are able to provide.

    Hustler Barn Find

I don't have the Hustler or Kohler Model or Serial Number of my barn find. The engine may be a Kohler CV 745 (FI) 27-30 hp. The back end of my machine is identical to the above photo. I need to replace the muffler. As far as I understand, it's Hustler part NOT a Kohler BUT because I have no...

"Backyarders" and where to buy used equipment

I don't know if I fit the characterisation of a "flipper". I have never ever purchased a mower of any description. People give me their "basket cases" just to avoid the disposal effort/cost. I either bring them back to life or keep them for spare parts. I have renovated a few push mowers and...

    Hydraulic System

The hydraulic transmission works!!!! When I say that, its with the wheels off, hubs rotate, at a good speed, in both forward/reverse. Is the above test sufficient to determine the condition of the transmission ie could the hubs work, with no load but be weak when asked to move the mower?? This...

mower hard to turn over after 6 months

"...when the bale is pulled back." What is the "bale" ?- new term to me. Yet to see an engine fitted with a flywheel brake?

mower hard to turn over after 6 months

Sounds like something causing friction eg string around the blade shaft, something within the engine cooling cowling rubbing against the fly wheel. :devilish:

    Another question about tires

Just to be pedantic; A wheel is usually made up from several components; Tyre - Outer structure/material in contact with the ground. Rim - Inner frame /structure that supports the Tire & connects with the Hub Hub - Connects the Rim to the axle. Some wheels will have the Rim & Hub in one...

Wide mower with multiple blades not cutting properly

Wow! I have never seen a cutter disk /head/system quite like that. In theory it should work very well. The more cutters the less each has to do delivering more consistent power demand from the engine and a smoother cut. I wonder if some of the problem may be how the cutter head is set up? My...

    Hydraulic System

True!. That contamination (old/new oil) will exist no matter what I do, short of a complete drain. Should the hydraulics work, I will endeavour to drain as much of the old fluid as possible, before refilling with Hustler Synthetic Oil. Hopefully the percentage of old/new oil will be small and...

    Hydraulic System

Thanks Ilengine - I understand what you are saying about the reservoir level. I have changed all the hoses (not the big return at base of reservoir) and there was no oil in them. This makes me think that the oil in the reservoir may be used up in "filling" the system, resulting in...

    Hydraulic System

I am, trying to resurrect a Hustler Super Z. Taking small steps as I don't want to invest too heavily, before knowing what the outcome will be. I am nearly ready to test the hydraulic transmission. It had been leaking badly, so oil level is well below specified "1in from the top of the...

d140 B&S model 44 popping backfiring thru exhaust

SGKENT has pretty much covered the majority of possible reasons for backfiring. In my limited experience the most common are: Ignition timing Exhaust valve timing Exhaust valve leaking Small leak in exhaust system has been known to cause backfire when engine decelerated fast. Ignition timing...

    Hustler Barn Find

Well I got the Kohler going this afternoon. Good sign. Had to replace some fuel lines that were leaking fuel out/air in and needed a good big, freshly changed battery to overcome the initial reluctance of not starting for several (?) years. Now that I know its a goer, I have given it a basic...

Uneven Grass Height with JD srx75

While it is possible to have a level cutter deck, the blade head/spindle angle should always be slightly lower at the front than the back ie you cut with the front arc of the blade not the rear. When adjusting any cutter you measure the blade height, not the deck, from the ground. :devilish:

    Air Pressures

Tyre pressures are usually determined by a combination of load (weight) and carcase deformation ie is the tyre contacting with ground at its max "footprint" Too high pressure reduces ground contact (convex cross section) concentrates wear on the centre of tyre and reduces the suspension...

What bit of OUTSIDE the dipstick /fill tube did you not understand.? :devilish:

Vanguard 20hp too much fuel, black smoke, won't run at full throttle, no power

Faulty choke mechanism most likly. Second - float valve dirty/perished - clean or replace. Float itself unlikly to be the problem unless absorbing/filling with fuel. Distant possibility - something blocking air supply (assuming air filter in good condition). :devilish:

    Oil measurement question

Maaate! - You miss the point. Just check where your dip stick Max level will be on the OUTSIDE of the tube. This will tell you if the cap should be screwed down or rest on the top. :devilish:
