It's my opinion that rubber gloves aren't a good alternative to proper mechanic's gloves. Not to mention using a worthless spark tester. Adjustable air gap testers are more expensive, but if one wants something that works, bite the bullet and buy it. Cheap tools only make your job harder.

Not to mention that using the mower engine to charge a near dead battery can damage the mower's charging system. Usually, on a Briggs, it will melt the stator ring.

At my old age, I've been guilty of "work-arounds" in the past, but most of the time, the work-around came around and bit me on the "around"!

You bad! But seriously, does the filter on any lawn/garden really do anything after the initial break-in period? I realize that some machining shavings, etc may be circulating the first hour or two, but after that? One of my engines has a filter, but the others do not. So on the non-filtered...

Over this weekend, I replaced the worn shift yoke on my 1984 XT 33 Snapper rider. Not a real easy task given the amount of space and all the associated linkages. That said,a lot of us here have did considerable amounts of mechanical work where we have had to start a nut or bolt in a 'blind'...
