    New/Used to me

The Command (CV) series Kohler in my opinion is the best engine Kohler built, easy to get parts for as for the mower its strong and well built but parts will be primarily be thru a Toro dealer other than high use parts provided in aftermarket but as old as it is don't be surprised if parts start...

    Nikki carb questions

The choke return spring is a small light spring and after several years they tend to fail but can be replaced. And you may have an issue with the main jet o ring again on the older carbs that little bitty o ring drys out and let the main jet get loose and instead of it being able to regulate...

Toro Timecutter 75742 engine stopped in the middle of mowing. Won't start again

Check and see if you are getting power to the fuel solenoid if you are good and also remove the fuel solenoid from the carb energize it and see if the stem pulls down if it does good but if the fuel solenoid windings are going bad it could function initially but cut off after a few minutes.

Here in central Florida most of the small store front shops have closed and the larger store front shops have opened looking to sell mower #1 and do repairs #2, but there are several one man repair guys scattered thru out the communities some are knowledgable honest repair guys and some are...

Do I actually need a blade balance?

Many people over sharpen their blades, an razor sharp blade dulls easily, an edge with a hand file holds up much longer and is less likely to get out of balance.

    Craftsman T-240 Deck Spindle Grease

The purpose of greasing the spindle without the bearings seals being removed would be to have grease in the spindle to help reduce the heat some what.

    Stumped

If your spraying starting fluid into the combustion area and it doesn't try to start you don't have adaquate spark.

    Grungy gas tank

The best I have seen is muratic acid for an acid it's on the mild end but use caution in using it.

    Better, more robust deck spindle?

I agree that the bearings need to be repacked, for those spindles with grease fitting it comes out between the bearings and will offer some cooling of the bearings, also the bearing size plays a big part in longevity especially when mowing larger amounts of acerage.

    quick attach blade system

Buying Amazon parts is a mistake, no quality control.
