    Kohler PS-KT725-3012 just dies

What happens if you loosen the fuel cap. Be away the fuel cap isn't vented, but if loosening the cap fixes the issue that would point to a clogged vapor recovery system. Also something else to check is when it quits do the spark plugs still have spark.

Why do B&S have a range for valve adjustments?

Because somebodies .006 is somebody elses .004 and vise versa. it is not a exact science nor do they have to be exact. Most techs tend toward the lower to middle end of the adjustment range. So an engine that calls for .004-006 IN and .005-.007 Ex most techs will just set both at .005 and...

    Tensioner pully positioning issue

Not totally true. MTD still has some belts that go by the 754 number and I have seen a few that went from 754 to 954 and then back to 754. Depends on how they package them.

    Murray Battery

Just replace the battery. Battery 3.5 years old so most likely dying. Smart chargers repair modes are a farce and don't do anything to repair a battery. And you can either replace the cable, or most auto parts stores and some lawnmower shopts probably have the ring end to clamp on the...

Yardman (Cub Cadet) RZT-50 drive belt slipping

Two things come to mind. 1- MTD products do not like non-OEM Belts. Just because the belt exchange says it is a 1/2 x 57 doesn't make it so. And 2- Check the engine pulley for a groove which could prevent proper grip on the pulley.

2012 Troy bilt bronco pedal and belt issues

Looks like the long belt should be the 954-0467 And the short belt is 954-04208A And if they mower is just setting without running the pedal may not move very far because of the pulley ratio at the variable pulley is set for low speed and without spinning won't have much pedal takeup.

    bachtold belt adjustment

I am assuming this is the type where the lever moves the head forward to engage the blade belt. If so there should be a square headed set screw on the pipe that the tension arm is attached to toward the head that you loosen and then slide it along the smaller inner pipe to set the tension.
  50. I

2012 Troy bilt bronco pedal and belt issues

Maybe it is an optical illusion, but it looks like the two belts on the variable pulley are reversed. The belt that goes around the transmission pulley and the idler pulley should be in the top groove, and it looks like it could be in the bottom groove.

    What's missing in this picture?

And after that series with the connecting rod issues, Tecumseh beefed up their connecting rods, and very seldom did one break after that unless ran without oil. The internal components on their V twins were overbuilt and had massive connecting rods and bearing surfaces.

    What's missing in this picture?

A lot of people complained about the Tecumseh engines being junk. Back when Tecumseh was still in business early 2000, Briggs had like 66% of the market, and Tecumseh had like 13%, and my Briggs to Tecumseh failure rate was 15:1 So they were not that bad of an engine from my own experience.
