    TS248XD losing drive power

Interesting, thanks Bert. Run out the gas? Then remove the carburetor and fuel line to dry everything out? Blow out the carb and fuel line with an air compressor? Or is it more involved than that?

    TS248XD losing drive power

I've got a TS248XD that runs well 98% of the time. It occasionally bogs down and almost stalls, usually when going down hill. But that is rare...maybe once every 4-6 hours of mowing. This past weekend, it started to lose momentum while going up hill. Engine speed and cutting were normal. Seems...

Mulching Blades for TS248XD with Welded Deck

I've got a TS248XD with welded deck and mulching kit. I have a couple acres and lots of oak trees, so am constantly running over small sticks. I also mulch my leaves in the fall. I am looking for some heavier duty blades with a bit more mulching capability and durability. I was looking at the...

    Anti-scalp Wheel Adjustment

Is it best to adjust the anti-scalp wheels based on your standard cutting height? Ie, since I typically cut on level 5, should I adjust the wheels using that height as the baseline?

TS248XD - Remove Side Discharge Cover

Any idea how to remove this black retainer ring without destroying it? I've got a mulching kit installed and would like to remove the side discharge cover so that I can get the deck closer to stuff when cutting. It's mounted on a clear cut deck.

1998 LTX1000 - PTO Clutch / Tie Rod Popping Off

I just watched a 10 year old kid on you tube fix one. He basically greased the ball and socket, knocked it in the hole, then peened the perimeter with a ball peen hammer. I'll give that a shot.

1998 LTX1000 - PTO Clutch / Tie Rod Popping Off

Rotated the PTO, looks good...no rubbing. Any suggestions on salvaging the tie rod for another cut? I tried squeezing it back closed with a c clamp, thought I had is set back in the hole, but it popped out.

1998 LTX1000 - PTO Clutch / Tie Rod Popping Off

Ah, so the clutch should be rotated 90 degrees to the left? Remove the bolt, drop the clutch, rotate 90 degrees, and reinstall?

1998 LTX1000 - PTO Clutch / Tie Rod Popping Off

The numbers are worn, so I'm not exactly sure. I have a manual for 917.272410 which seems close. My engine is a 20 HP Kohler, not the 18 shown on the manual. I think the tie rod that was on there may not have been the correct model. The replacement I ordered matched the one that was on...

1998 LTX1000 - PTO Clutch / Tie Rod Popping Off

I replaced a PTO clutch a few months ago and have since had the tie rod break twice. I noticed there was some wear on the tie rod where it had been rubbing the PTO clutch. I have the PTO clutch up as high as I can get it on the shaft, but am not sure if it is up all the way, see photo below...

    Clutch not engaging deck belt

I had a belt pop off and wrap around the clutch. After removing it and replacing the belt, it no longer works. It does turn, but barely and makes some sort of rattling noise. Any idea what is happening?

    Electrical troubleshooting help needed

I had my deck belt somehow hop off the clutch and got caught above the pulley. It was totally shredded and I had to cut it up to remove it. I noticed the clutch wire was disconnected, so I plugged it back in. Now my mower won’t start. I can’t figure out what is happening, here is what I’ve...
