One of the things missing in conventional dino oil is zinc. If you want to continue using dino oil adding in a zinc additive will help prolong the life. https://revxoil.com/shop/zinc-oil-additive/ My 13 year old Kohler Courage engine in one of the zero turns supposedly has/had a lifetime of 500...
I am curious when did CC (rebranded MTD) become junk? what year? I have a RZT-50 Yardman (CC(MTD)) mower I bought in 2010 and it is still doing well with 575 hours on the clock. Only things done to it is 1) changed both the deck and drive belts - learned the hard way to use MTD part on the drive...
Have a MS171 bought in 2012 and has never been serviced. It just started leaking gas when put on its side (see pic). I noticed it starts to leak when the fuel rises to a small black nipple (see pic with red circle). If you tilt the chainsaw to submerge the nipple it leaks. Stops once the nipple...
Tractor has 580 hours on it. Replaced the original belt with an 8TEN Belt 810-CBL2440T (57" x 1/2") belt and have about the same slippage. Took the tensioner pulley off and the bearing pulley still feel tight. However I noticed about 1/2" of up and down play in the tensioner arm and lots of wear...
Engine is a SV715 22 HP. Original carb is a Keihin. Numbers stamped on top of the carb are 32 053 11 64B alc. And on the side is BCH
I did find I had one of the governor linkages on the wrong hole. Put it where it was on the original carb and it does run better now. But still not as good...
So does anyone have any recommendations? I still have the old carb. Could I take the jet out of the old carb and put it in the new one? Drill out the jet on the new one?
It is an aftermarket carb carefully selected from Amazon by reading reviews. Repaired other small engines by replacing carbs from Amazon and had great results.
Just replaced the carb on my Yardman (Cub Cadet) RZT-50. Original carb was running VERY rich and engine was hard to start. Repaired it once and did not feel like fixing it again. Installed new carb, gaskets on both sides of carb, and fuel filter. Gas is new. Idle is perfect but off idle to full...
Gas was pouring out of the carb opening. Figured it was the float. Disassembled it. Nothing looked bad. Reassembled and it works fine now. Next time it goes bad I will just order a new carb.
YardMan ran perfect last week. Parked it after cutting. Started it up today and it is running bad. Lots of engine missing sounds and unburnt gas. Sounds to me like a stuck choke. Have very limited experience diagnosing and repairing lawn equipment but do have adequate experience with auto/truck...
Mow 5 acres every week April - October. Lots of trees and small hills. Have a Kubota Z331 72". Takes me about 2 hours. Comes down to what your time is worth. Sure a smaller non-commercial grade mower will get the job done but you'll spend half the day cutting.
