Have to take the fuel tank out if you are referring to the shorter, thicker belt

My FS-40 did this...couple of the fuel lines were split due to age...for $50 i got a new carb..fuel lines..tank vent and filter from Sawzilla and runs like new.

my 22hp Briggs carb has two of those jets. They are different size and have to be installed in the right spot.I replaced mine earlier this summer and engine runs like new for being 10 years old.

Thanks all this one has the throttle mounted in the top engine shroud; no half cam wheel. I see a bolt in the trigger housing, but took that off earlier and didnt see a way to adjust from there.

Recently got an older Stihl FS-40C trimmer from the in-laws. It hasnt been cranked for a few years,but cleaned the carb and got it running in pretty good shape. My question; is there a throttle cable adjustment? The end of the throttle cable where it attaches to the carb has about a 1/4" slack...

Good point Forest thinking my father in law tried to remove it at some point and didnt finish. It does have the carriage bolt head up above that is hard to access.

So I wanted to update this one again..the drive belt was purchased on Amazon, not Lowes. I kept having issues with it coming off, usually after stopping and shifting to reverse and then back forward. I ordered the belt from Sears parts and installed this weekend. It was maybe 1/4 inch shorter...

My bad.... I got this drive belt from Lowes. I think the belt I took off was possibly the original, but the belt stayed on the few times I mowed with it before replacing.

Thanks Forest, I have the owners manual and the belt routing sticker under the tractor. The belt I ordered came from Sears Parts direct as well as the new pulleys. Mine does have the two rear pulleys which are about 3 months old.

I checked everything I could get my hands on and it all seems tight. I will keep looking and see what I can find. Thanks for all the tips.
