Bought the spark plug at O'Reilly auto parts. OEM plug. It still runs the same.

Ran the same before and after an oil change. Have tested spark in line and with a spark tester. I can run pet-4000 tester to about 8-9 mm before it dies. New spark plug resistance is good. New needle installed with oring kit. Can't adjust float as it is plastic.

Yes if you push throttle a the way up it activates the choke. However I have the engine cover off so I can see the throttle move and the choke is definitely not engaged. Even at 7/8 throttle and running fine if I engage the blades it instantly bogs down. I am going to check the flywheel key to...

Installed new plug and checked spark with pet-4000 tester. Nice blue/purple spark at 6mm gap although right at the tip of tester it was yellow. Re checked armature air gap at .010. Will run fine up to 7/8 throttle but at full it bogs down and exhaust is black like it is running rich. Choke is off

Yes new jet 796251 and o-ring kit. It is a Nikki carb and I have run it through my ultrasonic cleaner twice. I am in Oklahoma elevation about 675 feet

Worn drive gears from an older mower is to be expected. Metal on metal is going wear down over time. That is no reason to avoid a particular mower.

Okay I took the muffler off and tried to run it. Same problem, there is little to no carbon build up in exhaust port.
