I fought a similar situation and finally took the gloves off.

I’m on year 4 with my Hustler 60” and a Kawasaki FR730V and just hit 70 hours yesterday lol. Assuming it’ll last me quite a while with no more than the 1.x acre I mow and occasionally a family member’s yard. I change the oil at the recommended intervals and the air filter as needed.

Mine is a 20 model and I can’t remember if I have hbe that hole in that plate or not. I remember doing something to help secure the divider but can’t remember what, might have used one of the super strong thin round magnets I have laying around to help hold it in place. I’d have to jack it up...

I have some 22x11x10 ATV mud tires on mine. Pretty much solved any traction problem I’ll ever encounter.

I bypassed all of the switches the day I brought mine home.

I’ve thought about a larger capacity filter too. I always let the engine idle a while in the shade or make a couple slow idle laps around the yard to help cool the engine and oil off before shutting it down.

The thread size for the filter on the FR651V is the same 3/4-16 size, so it should work the same. Depending on where the sandwich plate aligns when it’s tight on the block, the location of the fittings going to the cooler could come into play. Most of the 1/2” npt fittings are fairly short, and...

It’s already hitting 100 here where I’m at and I don’t have the luxury of mowing before sunrise, or after sunset when it’s still 90+. A cooler may be overkill, probably is, but I’ve also wasted money on far less important things lol.
