    SDX Tires

I fought a similar situation and finally took the gloves off.

How many hours do machines really last?

I’m on year 4 with my Hustler 60” and a Kawasaki FR730V and just hit 70 hours yesterday lol. Assuming it’ll last me quite a while with no more than the 1.x acre I mow and occasionally a family member’s yard. I change the oil at the recommended intervals and the air filter as needed.

    Hustler mulch kit ?

Mine is a 20 model and I can’t remember if I have hbe that hole in that plate or not. I remember doing something to help secure the divider but can’t remember what, might have used one of the super strong thin round magnets I have laying around to help hold it in place. I’d have to jack it up...

    Tired, literally and figuratively

I have some 22x11x10 ATV mud tires on mine. Pretty much solved any traction problem I’ll ever encounter.

    Feel better now?

    Transmission oil filter cross reference

I use the Lucas 20w50 and the Wix filters, no issues.

    Bless your heart.

Mower dies when moved out of park.

You’re free to do as you wish, fool. I do happen to have a seatbelt buckle that I click in when I don’t want to wear it 🤔 .I’m pretty sure if I needed them, I’d have left them in place. Luckily my "partner" and I don’t have to worry about me getting knocked off the mower. But maybe I should go...

Mower dies when moved out of park.

I bypassed all of the switches the day I brought mine home.

Add Oil Cooler to Raptor SD - Kawasaki Fr691v

And it takes time for the water passing through the oil cooler to lower the oil temps as well as for the egt’s to drop. Carry on as you wish. There’s more than one way to skin a cat.

Add Oil Cooler to Raptor SD - Kawasaki Fr691v

I give it a minute or so to allow the temperature to stabilize a bit, letting some of the heat disperse across the engine. I’ve never been a fan of working something hard and just shutting it down immediately, mainly from my days of working on diesels with turbos that like to cook the oil in the...

Add Oil Cooler to Raptor SD - Kawasaki Fr691v

I’ve thought about a larger capacity filter too. I always let the engine idle a while in the shade or make a couple slow idle laps around the yard to help cool the engine and oil off before shutting it down.

Add Oil Cooler to Raptor SD - Kawasaki Fr691v

The thread size for the filter on the FR651V is the same 3/4-16 size, so it should work the same. Depending on where the sandwich plate aligns when it’s tight on the block, the location of the fittings going to the cooler could come into play. Most of the 1/2” npt fittings are fairly short, and...

Add Oil Cooler to Raptor SD - Kawasaki Fr691v

It’s already hitting 100 here where I’m at and I don’t have the luxury of mowing before sunrise, or after sunset when it’s still 90+. A cooler may be overkill, probably is, but I’ve also wasted money on far less important things lol.

Add Oil Cooler to Raptor SD - Kawasaki Fr691v

I had thought about something similar before. But instead of that setup, using a sandwich plate with the same 3/4-16 thread and adding a small external cooler somewhere. My yard isn’t too big, but when I was cutting a couple properties, the thought had crossed my mind.

    Squeaking noise

I’d set the rear on jack stands and slowly spin the rear wheels. You can probably narrow down the area easier that way. If metal is rubbing metal, you’ll see a shiny spot.

    Tweel size - Hustler X-One

I’d probably just order a set of 1.5 or 1.75” wheel spacers and call it a day.

Much BETTER and longer lasting LED lights for Hustler mowers

On my last mower I added a couple of these, mounted with some overly strong magnets that have a threaded boss that protrudes and used a screw through the mounting holes. 2 magnets each light. Worked great, I only have one centered on my new mower now, it does decent.

    Problems with deck leveling bolts

If it was me, I’d drill the round piece and put a cotter pin in on either side and it and call it a day. It that doesn’t work, tack weld a strap across the bottom of the bracket.

stripped vent plugs on 54 inch Fastrak hydraulic housing

One of these hand impact drivers works wonders sometimes. Use the BFH and a couple good whacks and the shock/rotation combo will break "most” things loose..usually. If there’s room to get it in there.

stripped vent plugs on 54 inch Fastrak hydraulic housing

Mine were a pain on my last mower too. Haven’t had to service my new one but I dread it. I used my 3/8 breaker bar and a short piece of pipe for extra leverage. There’s no reason those plugs with a 1/4” Allen need to be that tight from the factory. I have to deal with similar things at work on a...

stripped vent plugs on 54 inch Fastrak hydraulic housing

If there is a vent tube, which I would think there is..not 100% sure though, you could fill it through that. It’d be a slow process. The fill plug location makes it difficult to use a chisel to break the plug loose if/when it strips out.

New Leftover 2020 Hustler SD 48" Mower

I picked up my second Raptor SD last year. Had a 48” and sold it, then found a 60” listed on Lowe’s website for $3299, less than I paid a couple years earlier for my 48”. My 48” would occasionally have the tensioner come loose when mowing at the lowest setting. No issues with this one so far.

Rims/wheels for Raptor SD 48 in.

I had found some 10x10” wheels with the 4x4” bolt pattern somewhere for halfway cheap. Just saw some ITP 4wheeler rims a minute ago but the plain polished wheels were like $80 each.

    Tire upgrade complete

I only saw a couple spots where I intentionally tried it, by locking one tire and pivoting on it when turning, As long as both tires were moving during a turn, I couldn’t notice anything out of the ordinary.

    Tire upgrade complete

They're an off-brand ATV type tire. They ride surprisingly smoothly. For $55 a tire, I figured it was worth a try. I saw other tires in roughly the same sizes, but these were the cheapest to try first.

    Tire upgrade complete

Installed some 22x11x10s today to replace the factory Grassmaster 20x12x10s. A couple of places that tend to stay damp/soft where the old tires would have spun, these didn’t miss a beat and not a hint of spin. Tight turns didn’t really bother the grass, but I did more of a 3-point turn usually.

    Hustler Raptor LED Lighting

I had a pair of 6 LED on my 54, but just put a single on the 60” mower I just got. Haven’t gotten to use the single one yet, but the dual were decently bright. Made magnet mounts with some strong magnets I had laying around.

Tires... where do you get yours?

I just got these in today. Size is close enough to the 20x12x10, and I think they’ll work out well, definitely more traction than the factory tires. $55 a piece.

    Fr730v oil change coming up

On the temperature scale I’m between the 10w40 and 20w50. Thinking I’ll go rogue and use a quart of each and make a 15w45 and see how it works out. I’ll be due for my first oil change in about 2 hours.

WTB Steering Damper, Hustler PN: 603983

Looking for a damper for my mower, somehow one of the plastic ends became broken on mine on my Raptor SD. I've found them online, just looking for a deal first.

What is lower fuel filter for?

There's the primary filter going to the carburetors on my Raptor SD 54 with the Kawasaki engine connected to a 4-way T fitting. At the bottom there is a fuel filter with no hose connected, and when I was filling it up earlier I noticed fuel dripping from it. I couldn't find a hose that it goes...
