i have a ltx 1040 cadet mower 19 hp my question can i use a different filter on it fram, stp , etc if so do you have the number of the filter thank you

You can use any filter you like. I use wix on everything. Put in your filter number and cross it to a wix. Don't use a fram they restrict the oil to much.

(( racing is the only sport that you need two balls ))

I never understood going with an automotive filter on a lawn mower with the big reason being because there cheap :confused2: I read on these forums all the time about guys spending all types of money on this supposedly superior synthetic motor oil because of its better protection for there engine and then they turn around and buy some two dollar oil filter too save money. icon_scratch.png

Many on this forum will use non OEM filter, but with a Kohler engine I definitely would not advise it. If you still want to save a little coin, the only non OEM filter I would use is a Briggs and then only in a pinch. This is only my opinion, and many will say it ain't worth a darn, as I'm only a grease monkey and not a professional mechanic. Use what I post at your own risk.

I agree with you  OEM on all my engines. I'm just wondering what that Kawasaki FJ 180V filter is gonna run.

Ric Have you bought a new air or oil filter for your new turfmaster yet? I ordered one just to have a spare for the new exmark 30. they dont stock them yet around here.
