Identify my mower

I have a John Deere and nobody can identify the model. It is a 21"commercial push mower with a 2 cycle engine.I bought it in 1986 used recently it started tapping so I shut it down and it never started again, I think a ring may have gone but I would like a little info on it before I break it down.

Just a wild guess judging by the recoil on the side of the engine it looks like a Tecumseh

Iwas told that lawnboy made this for JD nad I dont know that Tecumseh made a 2 cycle.

You're right! I forgot (old timers disease) LB also had their recoil on the side.
