I'm new to the forum, and sorry have no pics. But we purchased a 'Silver Series' in 1996 for my Dad upon his retirement. He used it for quite a few years. After he passed away it sat in his garage for probably the last 5 years. I cleaned it up, cleaned out the carb, new mounting gaskets on the carb, new fuel and primer lines, new plug, cleaned the exhaust ports, lubed and tightened etc. It started on the first pull and I've been using it all summer now. It is LOUD, and it does have a vibration to it, but it runs like a champ. It's the first 2-cycle I've used (other than LB's we had when I was young). It smokes a little until it warms up then you really don't notice it. It has all kind of power. I believe it has a cast iron cylinder liner - which had no marks on it when I peaked into the cylinder. The only problem is the deck is rotting out. I may try to find a deck in better shape at the end of the season. Sad the 2-cycle is no longer made.

I'll bet sharpening and balancing the blade will cure the vibration problem. There have been threads about that in "General Mower..."

What is the model number on your mower?

Thanks for the welcome.I will have to get my model when home. I did sharpen and balance the blade but might try a new one. I can see a little movement when I push the flywheel or bottom end of crankshaft back and forth. Not sure howw much movement is normal.

EDIT: My model is 10304

I used to mow my neighbors yard when i was a kid and i used their Lawn-Boy. I don't know what model it was but it was a push mower F series with the gas tank on the very front of the engine. It was sorely mistreated by the owner and still fired right over for me on the first pull everytime! After that i was an addict! Since then i have used several different 2 strokes and nothing compares to the cut and reliability of Lawn-Boy. I also used to work summers for another neighbor who had 15 or so F series commercial push mowers. Now those were a treat to run and started everytime on the first pull. But my favorite model was the 8243 and 8243AE models that my other two neighbors owned. I liked them so much that i just purchased one off ebay sunday and it arrived today! So my lineup is a 2004 10323 Duraforce rear bagger and as of today a 1987 8243 f series side bagger. Pictures to come later!

That's a very nice looking mower! I had an 8243 as well, but sold it (bittersweet).

Hey everyone.I've always liked the idea of a 2 cycle mower, so I bought two of them. One is a Silver Series and one is a Gold Series. They seem the same, except one is a little newer. They both start with one pull and run great.
