Found a brand new snowblower with a free sign on it and it was the dreaded 3 stage snowblower. I took augers from and old MTD parts snowblower and changed them out. Fun Sunday afternoon project, pretty easy. Now I have a new 357cc 2 stage snowblower. Cant see why it wouldn't work.

I own a 3 stage and sometimes it is fabulous. Other times the primary augers are moving too slowly to clear the caked snow and the blades do not extend into and towards the accelerators and third stage inlet to clear any dam that has formed.
I thought of extending the primary auger blades to almost contact the driveshaft: same mod for the accelerators. For heavy snow one needs a fast rotating primary auger because centrifugal force will dislodge the buildup and clear the augers. It would be nice to convert mine.
Please keep us posted with the winter snow you experience.

Was there enough clearance to keep the secondary accelerator closest to the third stage impeller?
The augers are off an old 26" MTD. I think they wouldn't have fit if they were off a 28". Probably would have had to trim the blades on the augers down a or they would hit the gear box. The augers are 12" diameter (any larger and they wouldn't have fit), about 11" long. I cut the plastic bushings down with a pipe cutter to go between the gear box and the auger. Didn't think of it at the time, but you could try using the augers it comes with, you would just have to drill an extra hole for the shear pin if they fit.
