Hustler safety switch issue

I have a Hustler 42" (Model # 927368) that I did a engine re-power on (Honda to B&S). The engine works great but I am having a safety switch issue.

It runs great until I sit on the seat and bring the handles inward to drive it - when I do the engine dies.

I bypassed the seat switch and that doesn't fix it

I put in new handle switches and that didn't fix it. So I bypassed the handle switches and then I can bring the handles in and drive it but as soon as I turn the PTO on - it dies.

The local mower place said to check the connections on the PTO as the safety wiring run through the PTO clutch. I have done this and all the connectors look good and are engaged properly.

The clutch does engage and the blades spin for a second until the engine is killed by some electrical safety item.

Any thoughts?

I just had this same issue and found this forum via google search. I checked the two fuses on the side of the housing on the right side where the key switch/throttle is located. Fuses looked good so I put them back. Mower starts and runs fine now, no issue with the switches. All I can figure is there was just enough corrosion on the blades of the fuses that it interrupted the circuit. I'll spray a little electrical contact cleaner inside where the fuses seat.

Fuses are not your problem, as they are not blowing. Please start a new thread and include all unit model and serial numbers so we know what you have. Hyjacking a thread will just confuse everyone. Also explain exactly what your problem is and what you have try to do to fix it.

Its a 42 inch Hustler Mini-Fastrack and it no longer has a problem after I pulled and checked the fuses and squirted electrical contact cleaner into where the fuses seat. Starts and runs normally now. Before it would start with the handles extended to the sides and die as soon as you pulled them in to move the mower.
