The problem is your standard dimensions do not apply to John Deere or MTD/Troybilt/Cub Cadet belts because of unique width., depth, and cut angle.Belts aren't complicated if you can measure carefully.
Among the more common belts are
Ideally you can measure the old belt, but if not, you can use a cloth tape measure. Others may do it differently but I try to measure the back of the belt to find the length.
- 3L Section - 3/8" Width X 7/32" Depth
- A/4L Section - 1/2" Width X 5/16" Depth
- B/5L Section - 5/8" Width X 13/32" Depth
- 3V Section - 3/8" Width X 21/64" Depth
- 5V Section - 5/8" Width X 35/64" Depth
Once you know the length, width, and depth you can buy from a commercial belt supplier and won't be limited to lawnmower shops. The choices are almost unlimited. Some will say you must use mower belts only, but that's not been my experience.
Once you know your dimensions, you should be able to match them in a lawn mower shop too.
Also I am in Europe and I suspect the variety of belts here available isn’t as great as in the USA.Belts aren't complicated if you can measure carefully.

Any good belt supplier/stockist has a belt measuring "stick". Ask them if they have one before you go. Take off the old belt and they can supply a suitable replacement.Ive got an old yardman which im guessin is from the 1980s. It has no plate on it anywhere. Its got 11hp b&s motor and two individual square headlights.
The variable pulley broke so I had to remove everything and weld it. The drive belts have chunks out of them so I want to replace them. The only problem is I can’t find any suitable belts anywhere so if anyone can help me with ID numbers for the belts or where I could get them, I would really appreciate it I’m in Europe.
The length of the belt from the motor to the variable pulley is 53 cm and length of the belt from the transmission to the variable pulley is 31 cm. They look like they’re about a half inch wide.

many thanks in advance
