Should I cut out a side discharge in a push mower?

I am looking at a used 21" Honda self-propelled mower that looks good except I don't see a side discharge on it and the size of my yard makes a bag impractical. I was wondering: has anyone tried cutting out a side discharge on a push/walk behind mower? The only impediments I can think of would be:
1) I would also need to attach a deflector/guide to the cut-out
2) I am wondering if the air flow would work, given that it was designed to direct the clippings towards the rear, not to the side.

If anyone has tried this or can see this (not) working, please share your experience or thoughts. Thanks!

Just install a rear discharge chute. Most if not all will defect clipping to the left side. Note you use the correct for the particular model you have or thinking about getting.

Thanks, that sounds a lot easier, I did not think to look for one, lol. Are they aftermarket/universal for each cut size or do manufacturers tend to make them proprietary fits so as to force you to buy from them?
Also, I believe the deck is steel. I agree that cutting the plastic would not be a good idea.

Don't know a whole lot about them other than they exists. I get very Honda mowers in the shop here. Walk behinds around are nearly non existent. Once they were very plentiful.

Either way you need the mower's model and type number to research them.
