Loss of power in YTH18542

I recently installed new motor (thanks to those who helped me identify the correct replacement mower) and now have a new problem. After running the tractor for about 30 minutes, including a couple trips up a hill, the tractor won't go forward or reverse. Letting the tractor sit for a while restores the power. When I changed the motor, did my belt become loose so that it slips when warmed up? If so, is there a way to tighten the belt? If the problem is transmission, is there a way to fix without replacing the entire transmission? Thank you

Belts do wear and effectively get longer. Also on this model there are two plastic v-idlers that wears a lot causing the belt to appear to longer to mower. Even a new belt still can seem too long because of these worn v-idlers.

I would try replacing the belt and v-idlers first. If this don't then it is the transmission which an oil change might fix that. After that it is a transmission rebuild or replacement if none of these fixes the problem.

The transaxle running fine in forward and reverse and then not being able to move the mower after 30 minutes is not a good sign. Once the oil heats up and gets thinner after mowing for a half hour is when you are experiencing problems, not upon first starting to mow. Changing hydro oil may help. Transaxle may also be shot. How old is the mower. How was the riding mower forward and reverse movement before engine change? Have you had this mower for several years, or trying to repower a somewhat recently acquired mower?
