i bought this brand new mower and when i put 2.5 hrs on it the left side started to loss power
i noticed it was leaking a little bit. the left side would it even work. i let the unit sit for 5 minutes and started back up and it drove fine. i brought it back to the dealer and they told me they check it out and the fluid was white foamy. they replaced the fluid and gave it back to me. the next mowing it did again. brought it back again to the dealer and they ordered a new replacement tranny. is the a issue with these new mowers trannies and is this going be a ongoing issue
the good news is the dealer gave me a loaner. my mower is at the dealer for 3 week now i was told on Friday the next run of these trannys are expected to be in at the end of august. Are other experiencing the same issue with tranny.

Sounds like a bad transaxle. You would need to find the model and serial number on the transaxle and research if these units have experienced any warranty or ongoing issues.

There was an issue years ago, Like 20 were hydro-gear had issue with water entering the vent if the mowers was stored outside at the dealer. The fix was they put an umbrella over the vent and that seemed to fix the issue. First I had heard of this issue since. But sounds like water contamination, so I would be concerned about the other drive also.

i think your right. i told the dealer to make sure the drive is ok because of this has to go back one more time the mower should be replaced the mower only has 4 hrs on it

On these there is only three places on top that water can enter that is the vent, fill plug, and the input seal. Other than that it might be sealing of case sections.

HG recently superseded the vent on these EZT transaxles. Currently these 56000 (supersedes 55995) vents are not available, even the older part is not available currently. With this mind it appears there a problem with the new vents that HG isn't telling us dealers and service centers about. Or at least they are not currently telling us. Not good that they are not informing the warranty centers of potential problem.

I haven't even found an image of the new design to look at.

Water in the hydro oil will really reduce the performance. I drained two sealed transaxles in an older Hustler zero turn. I sold the unit to a customer and he paid to have this done. What a difference it made immediately in how responsive the zero turn was with fresh oil and no water in it!

The first time I encountered this issue, was envolving a case were the hydro pump had actually frozen over the winter and resulting in breaking the springs in the hydro pump pistons which sent pieces through the center section destroying the unit.

Not to mention but water is a crappy lubricant......esp in tight tolerance machinery.

storing outside is never a good idea Water contamination from outside storage, even under a tarp, still results in condensation and water issues in the fuel system and other places. A pre-fab storage shed is a good investment for all your yard equipment.

Got a call from the dealer today that my mower is ready. i will found out what cause the issue with only 3 hrs on it. I keep the mower in a climate controlled garage

I will post what i find out
