The big disconnect. SEPERATE MACHINE AND ENGINE INFORMATION IS NEEDED! We are not mind readers

As usual, we are getting a rash of posts on this site from people who can never bother to provide the basic information needed for many of us to help them.

Basic information includes: The machine product ID numbers off the label for the machine along with the engine number information.

Note: The machine builder does not make the engines.

Yes, I know this has been brought up many times, but I will repeat it as needed.

Why am I wasting my 50+ years of experience only to be disrespected and seemingly taken advantage of to help others for free?

I get it, I'm a "nice guy" who works for free? No! I am a good man who believes in helping others in need. Don't take a good thing for granted fools.

It's no wonder so many small engine shops have vanished in recent years, and AI is taking over the internet.

Folks, DO YOUR PART by providing the basic information before going into a long story or saga about your problems. It helps us greatly to help you with what is going on.

THERE IS OFTEN NO ONE ANSWER TO WHAT YOU MAY BE EXPERIENCING WITH YOUR EQUIPMENT.

That is my lesson for the day.... do your part, so we can do ours.
 
What we are getting is getting a lot of stubborn DIYers. I have a had customer just yesterday asking about a problem with his mower and I told what it likely was for him to go back asking same question over and over again.

As said we need all the equipment info we ask for in order to help with the problem. And sometimes none of us have seen that particular problem.

I got a particular problem with a Kohler CV742-3017. It run like crap when first started. Even dies when going to idle. There have been multiple problems already found. Dirty carb, bad fuel pump, hole in fuel line, and just yesterday the tank vent line bubbling gas into air filter. Still none these fixes have fully resolved the running problem. It should be either the carb can't be cleaned or ignition related problem. It does get into random after firing at times which makes me I got a failing ignition coils. I actually took it out and mowed yesterday without any problems but I was at full throttle all the time.

What's even better is when they say they have a Murray, and you ask them if that is the original Murray, The MTD-Murray, the Husqvarna-Murray, or the DAYE-Murray. Almost as comical as when people had the opposed twin Briggs and they needed a carb kit and you would ask which fuel pump it has. 3 bolt or 4. And most people don't even know what a fuel pump is or in this case that it was even attached to the front of the carb.
 
Or how dumb some customers think we are. And some willy argue with a sign post with not a letter or number on it.
 
Hey - can anyone here tell me the part number I need to fix the broken thing in my back yard, and where to get that part? All I know is it was working when I put it away last winter. :)
