X350 for 1.5 acres?

Been renting a mower the last couple years, but I'm starting to think it makes more sense to just buy one.

About 1.5 acres, mostly flat, with a few trees and things to mow around.

I've been looking at used John Deere riders and came across an X350 that seems reasonably priced. For those of you running Deere mowers, would an X350 be about right for this size property, or should I be looking at something else?

Also curious if you think owning is worth it at this acreage, or if you'd just keep renting.

Solid mower. Buy it. Stop renting. Zero turn even better.

The JD X350 is a pretty reliable rider if cared for.

How many hours and how has it been cared for are the biggest questions to consider.

I have seen like new mowers with locked up engines and only 100 hours on them because the oil was never checked or changed.

Do you have the room to store and work on/ maintain a rider mower?

What have you been renting? Does it do the job of cutting your yard? The x350 is a good model , just gave my x384 to son in-law, got me a zero turn, like it a lot better.

Been renting a 42" Cub Cadet from, does the job but at $75 a pop. I thought about a zero turn too, what'd you end up going with? Worth the jump in price for 1.5 acres or overkill?

I’ve got about 21/2 acres, still have my x304 I’ve had about 20 years use it for a bush hog, got the x384 in 2024 and just wanted a zero turn and got a Gravely ZTHD 52” and just love it so far, but yes it’s probably over kill.and yes both the John Deere have done a great job.zero turn is faster cut and to me better cut? Just have to learn how to use it and be safe, why not look for a used one in tractor or zero turn?

Thanks for the input! Sounds like the Gravely is treating you right. I'll keep an eye out for the used one and definitely consider both.
